He's not wrong in saying that mirror gloves are far better than Acuity for non-crit builds. (obv Acuity doesn't do much for non-crit)


The trick was that if you had currency, the reasons not to play a crit based build were nil. And thus, did the Acuity reign supreme.







One of the only items I didn't sell off yet. Pretty much everything went over the last 3 months to be held as currency. Originals of mirror rings I'd been buying, Foe Bite, mirrored gear, etc, everything.

We're talking about rares, normal tiers on normal, rare gear. Acuity is far from BiS for non-crit builds, as they are pretty build dependent. But OK, I'll try to find some quotes for you. Just need to get my shovel and start digging.

Or when legacy Shavs/Kaoms was added to the game, it overruled a bunch of crafted chests? CoE for a bunch of helmets. Windripper for almost all bow users etc.

This has been an ongoing process even without the addition of new craftable mods. Without it, the game would stagnate and die.

But it would be nice if you could find that quote, since alot of us never seem to have heard it.


Acuities and Shavs are BiS for some builds. They are not strictly superior for all builds. That would be the case if they add a new tier of affixes for already existing affixes. So far, they have avoided this and I very much think that this was excellent game design.

And yes, GGG did explicitly write down that they did not want to devalue the effort of their players by adding new item/affix tiers in the forseeable future. They did not rule it out forever. I would not even mind it if there were any good reasons to do this. I see none. Other than to specifically devaluate the items that are currently in the game. And that is poor game design. Not worthy of GGG.

I can see many.

1) The pure enjoyment of new, cool gear.
2) Higher leveled content, needing upgrades.
3) More carrots.
4) Something new to do (craft) after 1000 hours looting/crafting the same rares with the same possible mods
5) More builds possible

These are possible reasons. I'm not updated one the Beta, so I can't speak of why or if.

I disagree wholeheartedly. It expands the scope and gives everyone new stuff to work towards. If the top mirrored items were BiS forever that would be bad design for an online only multiplayer trade centric arpg. I remember people crying when they released the 1.10 runewords and relegated all the previous BiS to junk. Same thing.

I for one love this change and I hope for a tiny bit of power creep in every major expansion.

PoE has always had an undercurrent of MTG. When new sets come out some of the previous broken stuff gets ruled out (Legacy items), the Meta changes (New affixes and Uniques) and the slate essentially gets wiped clean (New Leagues).

I like this design but I can understand its not for everyone. I'd much rather have constant change than stagnation and a permanent status quo.

I would be happy with lateral item development - i.e. new affixes. I am also fine with a change in the meta every couple of months. What I do not agree with is putting in a new tier of already existing affixes.

Also, if what you say is true, then those with a lot of self crafted 6*t1 items should welcome the announcement of today. I don't see that. What I see is very negative feedback from those who should - according to your reasoning - be happy about new goals.

I guess we have fundamentally differing opinions. Standard is where everything gets dumped, I have no interest in playing there other than between leagues.

This is ag reat change for the state of the game. Your arguments are that it discourages the top STANDARD players. I'm not trying to bash people's playstyles, although it's clear that for GGG the leagues are the meat of the game. Standard is there to appease the more causal players. I think the state of the game overall supersedes keeping standard players with mirrored items happy.

What do you mean that the league is not rewarding or fun? You put in 5 useless items in the device and you get 1 useless item... Oh wait!

lmaowhocares, anyway all this mirror items was crafted in golden era of RMT, when chinese bots grind hundreds of ethernals and even if all mirrored weapons gone in void it affect like 300(max) people in game.
