+1 please GGG, I remember a time having fun with vaal orbs, now I rarely see them. Sad pony face.

" Oh, lighten up and understand to laugh at a joke :-p However, my usual response when people ask to make a game easier is that this is pretty silly. Even if the company did make things easier, the player would find something else to complain about. What is the title of the next post? Can we un-nerf exalted orb drop rates please? Can we un-nerf mirror drop rates please? Can we un-nerf regal orb drop rates please? Can we un-nerf shavronne's wrappings drop rates please? Can we un-nerf voll's devotion drop rates please? Given the relative high success rate with Vaal Orbs to create extremely good items (yes, it is a 'high' rate when you take into account the total number of them dropping), I can understand why GGG might not want them to be a common drop. 'Corruption' is a rare occurrence, and it shouldn't happen for every map and good unique, but only a few... |

" If you farmed that pile of vaal yourself, then you don't use them. If you use them, then you didn't farm those yourself, but easy-game bought them. Talking about easy-ness, when everything is at your trading fingertip, IS a bit silly. " Given that vaal has become kinda a must-have for mapping and people use a ton of them on maps now, you maybe understand why drops should be looked at. When night falls

" I've farmed those myself over time, and it is fairly simple to get a stash of them, just don't use them on single maps. I've never bought a map, nor any currency whatsoever. I've bought 7 items (IIRC, may be +1 or 2) over my 1.5 years here. " No, because that would be attacking the symptom, not the cause. GGG changed the drop rate for maps for a number of reasons. They obviously thought those were good reasons, and I can see where they're coming from. Endgame had become easier to reach than they'd intended, and now they want to raise the bar again. I think they want to change peoples mind so character level 75 (as an example) is endgame before the annoying grind begin for the last 25 levels (whether I agree or not is immaterial in this discussion). That obviously annoys people who were used to the old and want it back. The correct solution would thus be to convince GGG (with arguments) why they should change the map drop rate. Though, I'm fairly certain they already know that is what people want... There are three ways you can ask game developers to change things: 1. "Change this" 2. "Please change this, it is making my game life hard" 3. "I think you should change this mechanic. The reasons are that I think it would benefit the game by doing X, Y and Z for it" Guess which of the three has the best chance of success (actually the only one which has a chance)... Hint... It is not number 1 or 2... Another hint... This post was not a number 3 type of request... Последняя редакция: Cyzax#3287. Время: 9 авг. 2015 г., 15:06:34

" True enough. For me either would do: make orbs more plentiful or make map drops less RNG-dependent, more actual difficulty / map IIQ dependent. I'd prefer the latter, but it requires more work from GGG. When night falls

Mapping, I feel, is only one part of the equation here. Mapping needs to be a LOT less reliant on RNG than 2.0 made it; GGG clearly failed in their mission to tie it to challenge.
The big one I see, still, is the Vaal Orb's use as a deflationary valve. The "Thrift Shop Rule" does state that the NET result of people using Vaal orbs is to REDUCE the amount of value in the economy: if Vaal'ing everything in sight was a net bonus, then it'd be all too easy to just constantly buy up items and Vaal them for profit. Laws of supply & demand dictate, instead, that this tactic will just drive up the price of "pure" items and Vaal Orbs by increased demand, while increasing the supply by flooding the market with things like +1 Tabulas. (Hence the net result, being the "Thrift Shop Rule" is that it ALWAYS works out cheaper on average to BUY the corrupt you want, then to try and make it yourself) Because of this important option, the game needs people using Vaal orbs a lot more. And one way of encouraging their use is to cut their value by increased supply; when they're worth 2 chaos on permanent leagues (or 1 chaos in temp leagues) that's a bit pricey to be using left and right. " ...On STANDARD League, I'd note. And they're hoarded, rather than being used. Science or No Balls. :P Rufalius, hybrid Aura/Arc/Mana Guardian | Hemorae, TS Raider | Wuru, Ele Hit Wand Trickster
