Thanks for input, folks! I guess treating this game as it is, just a game, would prevent the heartbreak we have gotten used to seeing during these massive changes of expansion. Not taking things too seriously would protect you from investing too much time and effort in impermanent things which in turn makes it easier to cope with inevitable loss. Its OK to be poor!
