Seriously. extreme White Knighting should just stop. It's super annoying. And some reddit stuff.

I always feel like I'm in some political debate.

Wonder how long it takes to get tired of applying logic and other things to convince someone about something.

There are stuff, that could be worked on, but it is far from terrible, also you don't need to like every single league mechanism to enjoy the game, taking a break can be almost as healthy as going to a psychologist to cure your reddit complex.

For me, my favourite leagues were, where I could do my build tunings based on new changes.

Peranduls, Prophecy, Legacy and Harbinger were all great leagues on their own, even tho not all league mechanism was engaging or rewarding for me.

Perandus: I detest it, had to backtrack on unexplored map parts in hopes of finding a fat guy selling me a rare ring, but ascendancy came and I could do a ton of different builds I enjoyed

Prophecy: Too much backtracking, but fated uniques and ascendancy changes enabled more fun things, the sellcast juggernaut discharge with realm ender was one of my favourite builds

Legacy: self explanatory, I could choose which leagues to experience, so I ran beyond on every single area and could try Breach, which I unfortunately missed

Harbinger: laggy blue fire garbage dropping nothing, but had the new support gems so I could do a pure phys build, which ended up being the most satisfying thing I ever made

As for this league? New ascendancy changes, frequent enough Abyss league stuff to experience (took a break after harb), new endgame content etc, I think I'll kill enough time while I finetune my build.

I agree beastiary is a bag of crap. But OP you sound like a child. If people like the league that is their opinion and its just as valid as yours.

3.13 was the pinnacle of PoE. IVYS+1 Gang 4 Life.
I played Diablo 3 and the blizzard forum was saturated with WK, impossible to criticize a default of the game.
Results, Diablo 3 is completely empty ...
Also I have the impression that the comunity of Diablo 3 has arrived in numbers on POE ...

Many people respect the enormous work of GGG (me first) but sometimes it is necessary to accept that some default of the game must be erased or adjusted.

Some people might like it. It's like lab some ppl like it. Whatever...

GGG has true numbers in house which will tell the story of this league. I predict it has massive drop off compared to past ones and no white knighting can save that.

Git R Dun!
Yep. The most important numbers are the sales of June's supporter packs. Before then it's all theory.

This is exactly what I am expressing, that you liked/loved some challenge leagues and disliked others based on your own set of criteria of what you enjoy when playing PoE (or any arpg). I personally liked Perandus (he sold me a Bino's Kitchen Knife among other items) and I didn't experience any super lag with the gold guardian chest mobs (many posted it was causing major lag but somehow my setup didn't lag out except for 1 time). We both agree that Legacy was fun while others hated the league-stone micro-management required (I got my first talking weapon, "Jack, The Axe" and a 6L chest dropped in the wild). Harbinger for me was "garbinger". I couldn't play Breach league at all (every breach caused a drop to 6 fps on my AMD video... even today breaches lag badly on my nVidia 1060 AMP! gpu so it's still a problem), etc., etc.

Since we all experience PoE differently due to our gaming rig performance, Internet speed, time played, personal desired things we want to have in an arpg, etc. there will never be total agreement on anything GGG comes up with (normal human brain processing) so players flooding the PoE talk channels expounding their views of PoE likes/dislikes is just normal communication.

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

Path of Exile become great game, because we provided feedback, we complained over and over again, we demanded changes, we pointed out at flaws and we got things done...

Quite a lot of which, IMO, were going into the wrong direction.
I still liked the game enough to keep playing.
IMO, bestiary is fine but for the mechanic sometimes (sometimes a net that I wanted to throw just does not get fired - or so it seems, might be bad finger coordination) and the fact that I still think that the whole sacrificing is a bit off.
I like that we're not drowned in encounters that just pile mobs on top of more mobs, I like that loot is sparse and I like that the best way to deal with the mechanic is not to rev up dps and aps and kill stuff as fast as possible. This is actually why I decided to give the league a chance after all and in spite of my (misplaced?) moral objections.

Yeah, it's going into wrong direction for people who thought game will continue being extremely hardcore like it was 4-5 years ago.

A little tip that can help - come closer, also monster require to click him, like with namelock skill, not area. But still sometimes I have no idea why I didn't net the monster just like you >_<

Lmfao.

Yeah only your opinion matters.

If you think beastiary is fine its because you don't interact with enough of the mechanics so really you aren't talking about beastiary but rather PoE in general.

Which is why people throw around objectively so much because there are lots of well thought out arguments for why its bad but the only ones for good are generally it doesn't bother me. That isn't a counter argument :/ (even if the whole thing isn't actually objective)

The mechanics themselves are a real struggle to support I saw the meme post about how beastiary came before essence and essence league really improved on everything in beast league and thats how it feels right now lol.

Hoping for some really sweeping changes this week where they make the crafting recipes viable and make the obligatory every league buff to the beasts required to access the spirit beasts, in Breach by this stage i'd have had around ~10 breachstones i'd even found 1 lich in abyss by now I don't see why they gate the league content every fucking time then buff it every fucking time, could they get it right once >< (guess it was right in breach problems with chayula aside)

Actually, yeah. Beastcrafting being not as controllable as expected is big issue as well, because it can give you any base and any roll of that mod. Essences are indeed just better for crafting purposes at the moment.

Uuuhhh, I'm in awe of your bravery.

PS: White knight as well as black knight are dumb labels people tend to put on each other because they need labels/groups to have a well defined enemy they can fight (bravely *giggle*).

Hey, brave Forums warrior here.

Thanks, I giggled too actually :)

Jonestly? I find the dozens of complaints about bestiary even worse. We know that it's a rushed mess, but currently it's working well enough that you can enjoy it. At this point constantly reminding everyone of all the flaws it still has while people are already able to enjoy it does little more than annoying everyone.
Again, I know the league has problems. In fact, most of us know. But WE can't change a damn thing about it. That's up to GGG.

I really don't think I can enjoy Beastiary, not just fresh start in PoE given you know all these issues on every level of interaction with League :/

I don't think anyone like Lab, I think people either neutral or hate Lab as a place they have to go to get their ascendancy points. People love Uber Lab when they farm it, me including.

Yeah, I never seen so many complaints AND so many actual issues / controversies with the League with each topping each other and we didn't even seen how Beast trade will turn out...
Here's my thoughts on PoE in general, Bestiary League in specific, and why I am having fun.

White Knighting? Maybe. Honest opinion? Definitely. Add salt or wasabi as needed.

Background: I played Diablo the day it came out, and played it regularly for a number of years (completely solo, wasn't even aware there was an online portion of the game til like the second year of playing). I was not a "gamer". I played Diablo until Diablo II came out, played Daiblo II until I beat the story. Life got interesting in the Chinese curse kinda way, played LoD about a year after it came out, and HATED the charms clogged inventory, so only played occasionally, as the mechanics were still fun. Life continued to be interesting, gaming continued to be exclusively Diablo/Diablo II in a very sporadic fashion until Diablo III came out. That game I played religiously, never had issues with it, but appreciated the changes caused by the complaints of others, basically just played the game at my own pace and adapting to changes as they happened.

SO... PoE is actually only the second "game" I have played, outside of arcade games when I was a kid, or the occasional XBox/Playstation game at the houses of friends.

PoE is the first game where I have actually used the internet, forums and youtube to augment the game experience.

I started playing back around the time the Scion was released, but only sporadically (was still grinding Diablo III)... actually started playing PoE daily during Legacy League, but was playing in standard, because I didn't know any better. So, Harbinger was my 1st REAL League experience, and Abyss was the first League I played where I actually felt like I had a glimmering of a clue about what to do and how to build.

Now, here is Bestiary. I am running a Gladiator Bleedsplosion Cyclonist, with a tree path that I have been fine tuning since Harbinger (made it to T15 maps in Harbinger)... This League, I have had very little time to play, but have managed my time a wee bit better, and not rolled any alts to date, so have now gotten up to yellow maps in less than a week (a record for me).

The net mechanic was very easy for me, and I love the Menagerie, Einhar (he's very funny if you listen to his little speeches when leveling), and haven't had any problems with the recipes so far. They seem pretty well balanced for leveling augmentation, and fairly useless for now at the level I am at. Hoping that as I capture higher level beasts, they will open up new recipes that will augment the end game experience.

I don't really concern myself with the "economy", don't give a flying fuck at a rolling donut about what streamers can/can't do, and basically just play the game to my own speed, rhythm
and goals.

Your mileage may vary, and your opinion may differ, but as a crass non-gamer, PoE keeps me excited to finish work, get home, and play for a couple of hours every night, and long sessions on weekends. I don't really ask for more than that.

I am quite frequently not so miserable as it would be wise to be - T.H. White

If you read through the comments in Chris's reddit post you will understand the true meaning of "white knighting".

In game development terms I would be more worried about the state of GGG's dependency on using Reddit over the forums here.

There are people asking the mods on Reddit (the game's subreddit) that are pushing for censorship of r/pathofexile. Since GGG have no direct control of it, it could get a whole lot worse without their knowledge.

It will only take a few more events like the one just past to push that subreddit into censoring any and all "bad feedback". They are even complaining about posts asking why map drops seemed to be messed up this league. Complaining about posts pointing out scamming.

As time goes on the ones that are left will only want to "good feedback" about the game.

Don't think GGG know how dangerous that is to the game as a whole. I don't even know if they are doing it willingly.

Chris has always had a preference for reading and responding on Reddit than here in their own forums (frustrating). Lately Bex has been posting here more than other GGG devs. If more of the QQ'ers are on Reddit and thus Chris is reading more there than here then that could easily scew Chris on initial Bestiary league feedback and they would be making changes with incomplete feedback info (same as voters in 2016 did by only watching Fox News and thinking that Hilary was evil incarnate and "lock her up" for lying when in fact Trump is the biggest liar of any president in history). That is in part why (IMO) that we now have necro nets to capture a dead beast and resurrect it so we can kill it again in the sacrificial arena. Poor beast... it has to suffer twice because the mechanics of netting a live critter don't work with many builds (totems anyone? everyone!). The whole point of PoE and speed mapping is to create builds that can one-shot everything while running (forget about strategy, most want the run and gun nature of today's PoE). GGG allowed speed/power creep to happen over the last couple of years so that ship has sailed and any attempts to go back to the old days of PoE when drop bears could land on you and crit kill you (so you had to go slower for safety) are met with major forum backlash. But is this backlash of Bestiary league mechanics the result of a small % of very vocal players taking time to flood the forum channels with their QQing or is it just the result of a poorly executed plan by GGG to bring us more ways to craft gear? So the whole White Knight or Black Knight posting on here or Reddit is always going to continue. If you hate Bestiary and slower play flow with extra time required to capture live beasts you should know be happy that you can one-shot everything and then net the dead critter after all are dead. If that removes the original intended devs (or your liking of having to capture a live beast) vision of having to work harder to kill the adds and take the beast to be captured health down before netting it and you hate necro nets then go shout/post on Reddit so Chris will see more QQing. Maybe GGG does subscribe to "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" metaphor on game changes and White Knighting or Black Knighting loud enough is required to get GGG's attention (just like Horton Hears a Who... man those Whos really had to work hard to be heard and not die).
