here's the thing guys: Purity was so popular for one reason, and one reason only - the elemental-hitting monsters in the game hit so hard, it's almost as if they are assuming 90% resistance to their element. all three kinds.

You don't understand, it's part of their design philosophy that anyone with less than 50 exalts to spend on gear can't enjoy their playing experience.
It's how you create a hardcore experience when every other aspect of the game is pretty much faceroll. Gives people a false sense of achievement.
I've never even seen a purity or cwdt gem, or an exalted orb, and I'm having tons of fun...
Went D1 -> D2 -> D3 -> PoE. Natural progression...

LOL. Everyone isn't using clarity. The only ever time I might use this is for levelling a certain playstyle. Current build runs off around 50 mana via mana leech. Granite flasks? They are like HP flasks! And everyone isn't using enfeeble. At all. And whats that? They just nerfed enfeeble? OMG your statement is so stupid its unreal.

Older than you probably. Even though I give what I can to homeless people, after having lived in one of the poorer places in my country, I can't even count anymore how many times people literally got spat on for being broke.
Hell, I even had to rush one to the emergency room because a couple of human trashbags had beaten him to a bloody pulp for simply existing.
It's nice to still be idealistic, but it has nothing to do with reality.

If survivability isn't worth leveling two more gems and lose a few seconds by going to town when you have to change them... I guess you'll have to live without said increased survivability - I'm not that far into the game yet, but I can't imagine that it's that big of a deal.
