build diversity is limited if your definition of a build is one that can blind fold steam roll maps.

I'm sorry but D2 has far less builds(which is still great). PoE has a ridiculous number of viable builds.

See my response on the last page for a small sample. Those are all HC viable at 80+. Not all are equal but that goes without saying. No game has "equal" builds.

Your first character is almost supposed to suck. This game requires rolling many different characters. The next time around you'll have

A. Experience
B. Stashed Goods
