At what level will my gems hit lvl 20?

Don't the gems get way more exp/time by doing higher level maps? Like I can do 75 no prob now. So I would think corrupted areas which are like low monster level wouldnt give much exp to gem?

But they get no exp penelty, and you can pretty much insta-gib them. So clear speed over amount of exp for each monster. I guess :-V

85 is typical. 87-90 happens if you're really efficient and only do maps that give high 80%+ XP.

Nope. Higher maps don't give much higher XP. For example a 66 map like dunes often surpasses even 71 maps. Haven't really checked XP difference in higher maps but it's not significant enough to matter.

Clear speed combined with that fact means running low areas will very quickly level your gems. Have achieved 19-20 in one session.

It actually depends on your map pool.

If you run level appropriate maps and don't die a lot, you will turn 90 before your gems turn 20.

If you die like crazy (and don't level too much) and/or are forced (or even want) to play content lower than Lvl70 (Piety, low maps) a lot, then your level gain will get so slow that the gems actually level faster than you (as they don't receive an XP penalty).

Then you may get them to 20 at Level 85 or so.

For sumonner lv 20 are just mandatory...

It matters now because it's not ONE set of gems you need to get to 20/20 - it's more likely 10 sets of gems you need to get to 20/20 thanks to the likelihood of positive outcomes on Vaal Orbs on gems.

That said, I think the current rate of exp gain for gems is pretty good. It doesn't take me very long to level another set of gems.

Seams u never played a spell caster :)

Ambush were my 1st league, where i got lvl 20 gems buy only using them with 1 char. I hit lvl 90 and 1/5 of exp bar to 91, when my 1st gem lvled up. Before i got bored at lvl 85 or so and started new char, which used some support gems and auras and so from previous.

Try and run Righteous fire setup with only a lvl 18 Purity of fire.
