[2.6 Updated] CwC Poison Bladefall (MoM, Max Block) [Low Budget/HC Viable] [500k Boss DPS]

Introduction
Скрытый текст

Note: This build can be used as a starter build with no inital budget. It was used for a starter character for the Breach League.

This build was built around the premise of Chaos Conversion Bladefall Poison using Ming's Heart and Atziri's Promise, supported by Wither and CwC. The CwC setup offers a surprising amount of utility, giving us an effective 128% cast speed with no skill investment in the tree along with a small double-dipping more modifier. The CwC setup also avoids the high manacosts of the Bladefall skill, allowing us to focus all our mana into a Mind over Matter setup, with little opportunity cost in aura usage. Wither's long range carries over to the Bladefall support, allowing the targeting of enemies from a safer distance. Wither itself acts as a support gem during boss fights, giving us a double-dipping 140% more damage at max stacks and a hinder effect.

The skill setup will stand by itself with very little support from the skill tree for damage, allowing us to reach up to t10 maps with little investment into damage passives or gear. This allows us to focus on defensive equipment and passives, and add a little flavour.

Disclaimer: This is my first build guide/post. I'm not sure how to link items that I don't own to the build guide, if anyone can tell me it'd be appreciated.

2.6 Update
Скрытый текст

2.6 comes with a hard nerf to blasphemy-based characters. I haven't tested the new Witchfire Brew but I'm sure it's effective range pretty terrible. Since Cospri's Will only poisons cursed enemies, it's no longer viable as an endgame chestpiece. Instead, try the new unique the Covenant which also gives us a 7-link.

MoM builds got a nice buff with the new 3 nodes behind MoM. Pick those up.

Additionally, the change to threshold jewels means that the Rallying Cry threshold jewel, Spirited Response, requires less investment on the skill tree. This jewel is very strong on MoM as it allows you to gain some mana based on the damage taken from a hit, before the damage of the hit is actually applied. Essentially, if you have 30% of damage taken from hits gained as mana, you take 30% less damage from sustained damage sources. You can achieve this with 2x Spirited Response and 2x Ming's Heart corruptions for 3-6% damage taken gained as mana when hit.

Ming's Heart also got a slight buff with the 2.6 update, moving from 15% reduced maximum life to 10%. We now have 10% additional increased life from before.

Overall the build should be stronger than previous iterations.

Required Items
Скрытый текст

2x Ming's Hearts enable our double-dipping chaos conversion and poison damage. We just have to make up for the 20% reduced maximum life the items give.

VIDEO
Corrupted Abyss with 40% Phys reduction, Enfeeble, Chain and +2 projectiles while wearing Tabula. This is probably worst case scenario for clear speed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Jxo-7W8lLE
I hadn't played the character for a while when I made this video so I do end up doing some stupid stuff and rip on the boss (started with only 1 life pot charge left, didn't have bone offering up, didn't have vaal lightning trap down). I didn't have Animated Guardian running here as he died a while back and I didn't get around to replacing the gear.

OVERVIEW

Pros:

+ Easy leveling with self-cast Bladefall or CwC Bladefall when it becomes available
+ No damage investment on tree required to handle most content
+ No mana cost
+ Can run all map mods but physical reflect (It is possible to outleech the reflect using flasks, but hard to do. Phys reflect mobs pose no threat as long as you flask before attacking them).
+ Max block chance
+ Mind over Matter
+ 153% increased maximum life before jewels
+ Small army of minions provides distraction for bosses
+ After acquiring either Arakaali's Fang or The Scourge, breaches are trivialized during solo play due to the minion army
+ Dual/Tri-Curse with up to 58% increased curse effect and an additional single-target Temp Chains on your Animated Guardian
+ Near-cap chaos resistance
+ Tanky minions distract enemies and don't require CoDT setup for the most part
+ Minor support role with Commander of Darkness ascendancy and Leer Cast/Dying Breath Animate Guardian

Cons:

- Little attackspeed investment for movement skills
- Short delay before CwC activates, which is the biggest barrier to clear speed. With the scourge you can always go double CwC BF.
- Somewhat dependent on flasks for damage output without The Scourge
- Orb of Regrets required for end game tree transition, depending on how much you specced into chaos/damage over time/physical damage nodes.
- While rare, Animated Guardian will occasionally die losing you about 2c worth of gear. He is of course entirely optional but provides terrific synergy with the rest of the build.

SKILL TREE

Necromancer
Main tree (Life/MoM)
Passives

CI Variation Concepts

Passives
You can run CI, as slots are available in the armour, shield, helmet, gloves, boots, belt and amulet. A rare chest can be used instead of the Covenant (Blood Magic won't work). A Pain Attunement/low life version of the build may be viable due to the high innate chaos resist that should allow us to skip Shav's and utilize Coruscating Elixir. Overall the DPS would be lower but survivability much better.

Ascendancy Points:
Скрытый текст
Mistress of Sacrifice
Spirit Eater
Commander of Darkness
Flesh Binder/Beacon of Corruption

Choose Flesh Binder if you prefer to run animate guardian and zombies, Beacon of Corruption otherwise.

Cruel and Merc: Kill all

LEVELING TREES

Скрытый текст

I recommend leveling with Freezing Pulse -> Firestorm -> Bladefall -> Wither CwC Bladefall Poison. For more specific details:
Скрытый текст
Level 1-5: x2 Driftwood Sceptres, Fire Trap + Freezing Pulse. Wanderlust/Goldrim/Karui Ward
Level 6: Equip Abberath's Horn x2
Level 10: Equip Flame Dash
Level 12: Firestorm
Level 16: Herald of Thunder
Level 10-30: Equip 1-2x pieces of Elreon jewelry if you have them, and pick up Mind over Matter nodes.
Level 18: Faster Casting + Concentrated Effect on Firestorm, add Faster Casting to Flame Dash
Level 20: Equip Carnage Heart
Level 24: Switch to Reverberation Rod, same setup for Firestorm
Level 28: Switch to Bladefall on Firestorm (requires Chromatic), swap out Herald of Thunder for Herald of Ash + Hatred. Equip -8 Elreon rings+amulet as needed.
Level 32: Equip Shavronne's Pace
Level 38: Switch to Cast while Channeling setup if you have 5-link or Tabula Rasa.
Level 49: Equip a 4/5L The Covenant.

Passive Tree (Level 70)
The build starts picking up the Witch radius of area wheel and nearby life nodes (grab the flask effect for quicker leveling if you're SC), then heads towards the templar radius of area nodes and picks up Mind over Matter along the way, once Elreon jewelry is equipped. After that, head towards the Shadow side of the tree. You can pick up additional life along the way as needed. Head down to the Scion life wheel last. The first ascendancy should go to Spirit Eater for the Bone Offering buff and increased poison duration. It's wise to level a Raise Zombies and an Animated Guardian in your swap setup so that it's ready to go when you want to start using minions.

Passive Tree (Level 90)
We grab some of the scion life wheel, Potency of Will, and easy-to-reach jewel nodes.

After reaching Merc dried lake, you can start speccing into minion life nodes and pickup your Animated Guardian setup. The most important nodes are the ones that give minion life regeneration here, found on the Herd the Flock and Death Attunement wheels. Grab Lord of the Dead as well. Whispers of Doom should be grabbed when you're nearing close to purchasing Witchfire Brew.

Passive Tree (100 Levels)

JEWELS

Скрытый текст

Jewel mods are in the order of priority in which they benefit the build
Prefixes:
Maximum Life
Minion Damage (once you have The Scourge)
Chaos Damage
Minion Life
Physical Damage
Spell Damage While Holding a Shield

Suffixes:
Area Damage
Increased Damage
Knockback on Hit
Rarity of Items
Spell Damage
Damage Over Time
Minion Block Chance

You may wonder why Knockback on Hit is considered the 3rd most valuable slot for suffixes. This is because Bladefall normally only can hit a target with one of its waves, as each wave hits slightly further from you than the last. With knockback, however, it becomes possible to hit a single namelocked target multiple times with the same Bladefall cast. I aim for ~10-20% chance to knockback on the jewels. This is generally useful only for rares and bosses not immune to knockback, and is also nice for the Tempest Shield setup.

LINKS AND GEMS

Скрытый текст

Main DPS Setup
Wither - Cast while Channeling - Bladefall - Poison - Void Manipulation - Concentrated Effect/Inc AoE

Void Manipulation is used over Controlled Destruction as it gives a double-dipping more multiplier to Poison. Your tooltip damage per Bladefall will be higher with Controlled Destruction, but it is worse overall. Concentrated Effect's more modifier also double dips with poison.

Once you have Cospri's Will, swap out Poison for Added Chaos Damage. This gives a nice kick in the ass to DPS.

Alternative DPS Setup
Blade Flurry - Cast while Channeling - Bladefall - Poison - Void Manipulation - Concentrated Effect/Inc AoE

Once you obtain the Scourge, you have the option of using this alternative setup, with Wither - Spell Totem - (Faster Casting) replacing your animate guardian setup. This will require some accuracy investment in gear, but should approximately double your DPS and increase your clear speed as you won't have to wait for the CwC delay versus trash.

Mobility Setup
Whirling Blades/Shield Charge - Faster Attacks - Fortify

Option with the Scourge/Arakaali's Fang:
Whirling Blades/Shield Charge - Faster Attacks, Spell Totem (separate link)

Once you have The Scourge, make sure your mobility setup is linked with it as the Spectral Wolves will benefit from Faster Attacks and Fortify as well. If you are like me and don't get a lot of benefit from the Fortify (I don't generally WB through packs/bosses), link a Spell Totem instead and you will have 10% chance to summon a totem on kill that then summons Scourge wolves continously. I can't promise this won't be patched.

Minion Setup
Animated Guardian - Chaos Golem - Raise Zombies - Minion Life

Guardian
Animate Guardian is equipped with

Only use AG in maps when he is level 20 in a +2 minions helmet! Unsummon him for bosses/areas with dangerous area denial attacks/traps such as Shaper or Lab

He is equipped with Leer Cast and Dying Breath to give a 33% increased damage aura and an 18% increased curse effect aura. In case anyone is wondering, Glove Enchantments don't work on the Guardian (I tried). It's really too bad because Of Spite would give a nice buff to the utility of AG. For boots, you should use Victario's Flight for the movespeed aura. Zahndethus vastly improves his (and your other minions') survivability in combination with Bone Offering, giving him a total of 6.5% life regenerated per second.

Alternative gear for AG:
Southbound - max life
Kingmaker - Culling Strike for your spells and 30% IIR.
The Singularity/Eclipse Solaris + Victario's Charity - Frenzy charge generation for you, minions and allies, and a hinder effect (does not stack with wither) w/ The Singularity or Blind with Eclipse Solaris. Singularity also looks sexy (big plus).

With enough health (the tree gives 54% increased maximum life), the Animated Guardian will only die to huge burst damage. If you are playing softcore, you need to take care to immediately resurrect upon death, as the animated guardian continues fighting and will quickly die without the Commander of Darkness aura and Bone Offering. So long as you resurrect, he will be teleported out. Out of all the times I've had him die all but one have been due to me dying forgetting to revive before he died.

Personally, I find Eclipse Solaris/Victario's Charity to be the best setup until you have a 5/6L Cospri's and a Green Dream jewel slotted for frenzy charge generation.

These should be linked in a +2 to minion gems helmet. Minions should all be at or near capped resistances (40% base AG/35% base Zombie/0% base Golem + 20% Commander of Darkness + 16% from tree)

Curse on Block Setup
Tempest Shield - Curse on Hit - Warlord's Mark - Enfeeble/Temp Chains

Cast when Stunned - Warlord's Mark - Enfeeble/Temp Chains - Enfeeble/Temp Chains/Abyssal Cry/Decoy Totem
Warlord's Mark is used to generate endurance charges for Immortal Call and grant leech in conjuction with Atziri's Promise. Tempest Shield is a machine for applying curse on hit and also gives some base block chance for when you don't have Bone Offering/Rumi's Concoction up. You can save a slot buy using Cast when Stunned if you prefer; cast when stunned will also go off when you block and attack/spell that would normally stun you. The 4th link can be slotted with Chain for greater targeting effect if you are using Tempest Shield, an additional curse in lieu of Witchfire Brew, Abyssal Cry for breaches or Decoy Totem for boss cheesing (Decoy Totem's not so great here since you already have a minion wall).

CWDT Setup
CoDT (level 7) - Immortal Call (level 9) - Desecrate - Bone Offering (level 12)

Increased Duration for Immortal Call is nice to have but not really needed because of all the skill effect duration on the tree. Molten shell is being used here due to its synergy with the block build, but could be replaced with Desecrate if you do not want to manually cast during extended boss fights. Keep in mind that Bone Offering will not activate off of Desecrate corpses with the same CoDT cast unless it is placed after it in casting order.

Utility
Bone Offering, Clarity, Desecrate

You'll want Clarity to apply Commander of Darkness and support MoM.

Desecrate and Bone Offering are used for self-casting before hard fights.

SKILL DPS
Скрытый текст

Open image in new tab.

Since we are poison based, the calculations to determine approximate DPS are more involved than I care to complete, so I will use POEBuilder. Base DPS, including poison, is about 100k with just a Tabula. On bosses it gets up to 300k with full Wither stacks (before flasks), and with Cospri's you can get over 500k DPS. Of course, it takes 3.6 seconds to reach full Wither stacks which is unlikely on most boss fights, so average boss DPS is more likely going to range between 100-300k DPS after some investment into gear.

Most of our increased damage and more modifiers double dip with poison. Along with the increased skill effect duration from the tree, temp chains from the guardian, and the double-dipping multiplicative (additive w/ vulnerability) damage ramp from wither, you can reach very high DPS level after a few seconds on a single target. Luckily, we have minions to distract enemies enough to allow us to do so.

DEFENSE

GEAR EXPLANATION

Скрытый текст

Other than uniques and after resists are capped, we are looking for high life, armor, and mana for MoM. You only need to get enough mana so that you have mana = 0.43*life pool for maximum effectiveness of MoM. If you choose to pursue crit, those are viable mods on armor as well.

Weapon

The Scourge is the best in slot here. With just the tree you get an additional 135% increaed damage, with 70% increased damage on hit. The Wolves are awesome and synergize with everything else we're running.

Arakaali's Fang is a stepping stone to The Scourge and has a similar bonus with the spiders. You could choose to ditch the poison support gem if you're running this.

Off-Hand

Rathpith Globe is your first gear upgrade. Along with Rumi's Concoction, it allows you to reach max block chance with Bone Offering active. The increased maximum life also helps offset the effect of 2x Ming's Heart.

If you don't have Rathpith Globe, equip a Stone of Lazhwar.

You can run a rare shield if you want to do this as CI, but you won't cap spell block with buffs up unless you use Reckless Defence jewels.

Helm

Any rare with a +2 to minions mod will do. Best in slot would be a rare Bone Helm with +2 to minions, and possibly Essence of Fear (increased minion life).

Chest

The Covenant is the best option here 2.6 - forward after the area of effect nerfs to blasphemy. It gives some ES, and a 7L to your skills.

Gloves

Any rare gloves will do. For implicits, we could look for the Of Grave and Of Spite enchantments or an Enfeeble on hit corruption.

Boots

Any rare will do. Essence of fear give minion life in this slot. If you do not take Vaal Pact,

Amulet

Any rare will do. There are a couple of viable essences in the slot, including envy (increased chaos damage), dread (increased armor), horror (increased effect of fortify), and delirium (%chaos leech).

For CI, choose Eye of Chayula. Stone of Lazhwar + Skyforth is an alternative stun immunity option.

Rings

2x Ming's Heart

This is the build enabler. If you can, corrupt the rings for %damage taken gained as mana. This mana gain actually applies before the hit, so if you are already on low mana you are gaining 12-18% damage mitigation from hits. This is much more worthwhile than the implict chaos resistance, which we already have a ton of.

Belt

Any rare will do. You want to use either a Vanguard or Leather belt. If you can get the radius of area corruption that's a big plus. For essences, fear (minion max life%), horror (5% physical reduction), dread (armor) are all good options.

If you are running reckless defence jewels, consider using Belt of the Deceiver for the reduced damage taken from critical strikes. The "Nearby enemies are intimidated" gives a double dipping 10% more modifier to our BF. Note that the more modifier is additive with the effect of wither.

Flasks

Atziri's Promise is a mid-tier cost unique that will increase your dps by around 20% and give you leech.
Rumi's Conction is the first/second item you should buy after Rathpith Globe and allows you to max block chance. The increased armor is not to be overlooked.
Witchfire Brew gives a more multiplier to your damage, but ultimately vulnerability or another defensive curse could be run in your CoDT setup to free up the flask slot for something like Taste of Hate or a utility flask.
Sin's Rebirth is a strong luxury flask with a lot of uptime. However, I'd recommend using Atziri's for the leech.

Luxury Items

Скрытый текст
The Green Dream/Nightmare will provide a method of earning frenzy charges, which are double-dipping more modifier for poison. Additionally, The Green Nightmare adds a nice extra dodge chance. If you get one it should be slotted in the Witch jewel node with 2 points in the nearby resist node in the elemental wheel.

The Surrender combined with two Reckless Defence jewels and a high curse effectiveness Enfeeble would allow max block with a big buff to physical damage mitigation and life on block. Additionally, Reckoning could then be used to replace Tempest Shield in the Curse on Hit setup. You'd need to have some strength on your other rare slots in order to use this shield. With Bone Offering active you'll have 78% block and 65% spell block. The Surrender has the second highest armour rating for a shield in the game, so you'd want to hit the Shadow shield wheel for additional shield defences/block chance. Once you have this, you can drop Rumi's Concoction from the flask lineup as you can achieve 75%/67% block with only Bone Offering.

Taste of Hate can replace Witchfire Brew if you throw another curse in your CoStun setup. We only want it for the physical damage mitigation.

Atziri's Acuity could replace the glove slot, allowing you to ditch vaal pact on the tree, switch Warlord's Mark with Assassin's Mark and go crit.

Ehy man!

thank you for the well written build!

Im trying and lovin it so far

lvl 77 breach sc i just got my scourge claw and im leadin my wolf pack ahah

good job!
Hello! any tip on lvling? what weapon should i use and also if you could post a lvl tree for the CI version that would be great! thank you
For leveling, I followed this general scheme:

Level 1-5: x2 Driftwood Sceptres, Fire Trap + Freezing Pulse. Wanderlust
Level 6: Equip Abberath's Horn x2
Level 10: Equip Flame Dash
Level 12: Firestorm
Level 16: Herald of Thunder
Level 18: Faster Casting + Concentrated Effect on Firestorm, add Faster Casting to Flame Dash
Level 24: Switch to Reverberation Rod, same setup for Firestorm
Level 28: Switch to Bladefall on Firestorm (requires Chromatic), swap out Herald of Thunder for Herald of Ash + Hatred. Equip -8 Elreon rings+amulet
Level 32: Equip Shavronne's Pace
Level 38: Switch to Cast while Channeling setup if you have 5-link or Tabula Rasa.

For CI leveling I don't have any suggestions for the tree, it's probably better to level as life and respec when you want to switch over.

Thread updated.
"
- Orb of Regrets required for end game tree transition, depending on how much you specced into chaos/damage over time/physical damage nodes.

Just wondering, what would the ideal tree look like to you after respeccing everything?
What's in the build guide is the final tree

For anyone following this build, once you have Cospri's Will it's most effective to slot an added chaos damage instead of poison, at which point you can consider dropping one or both of the Ming's Hearts as the DPS isn't really needed anymore
would like to see a video of this in action, if you could/have time
Yeah, I can get something running, just a total newbie when it comes to good recording software

use obs, its nice
Video is uploading and linked in the thread now.

There's a couple new things I want to try with the build, notably:

Using Spell totem on the Scourge to summon wolves endlessly (you have a chance to summon spell totem on kill, which then summons the wolves) for boss/breach swarming in higher tier maps where clear speed isn't as good. I don't particularly find my fortify link to be all that useful as I'm usually attacking from a distance/outside of breaches and not WBing through packs

Cursing with "cast when stunned" rather than tempest shield would save a slot as well
