Help with build or is it to late?

I am brand new to POE and overwhelmed by the game at this point. I started my build just by picking things I thought might be good.... for instance anything related to fire as I wanted a fire build.

After playing with a few people they said I should have picked out a build before I started and tried to follow that. Should i start over and pick a build or based on what I've picked so far is there a build that might be salvageable to do end game content?

I had a look at your character on your profile and its definitely recoverable. You're only level 35 and you will get a few passive respec points as you level to remove the irrelevant passives you took. I would head onto the witch builds section of the forum and find a build for a fire skill you like the look of. Chances are they will take many of the nodes you took so you can just remove the irrelevant ones as you can. You should still have a good leveling experience.

It's not too late, you are still leveling your character. You need to do your Labyrinth runs and get your ascendancy skills. Maybe you don't know what they are seeing that you skipped them. https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/The_Lord%27s_Labyrinth

It looks like you'll want the Elementalist with how you are doing your build. You will need more defense. I would get a shield, and Mind Over Matter in your skill tree since you are doing a life build. Work on building Elemental Overload, it's in your skill tree. Just take the skill point and carry a Diamond Flask so it procs every 8 seconds.

If I was going to do Magma Orb I would probably do it with the Templar not the Witch. But it's doable with the Witch, try searching for some Witch Magma Orb builds and I'm sure you'll find something. You can also switch to a mixed elemental damage build which is really more appropriate for the Elementalist since your ascendancy skills will buff all three not just one.
