PoE2 going zoom zoom like PoE1. My take

Well, hello.

Since all chars have been buffed, it looks to me like the slow approach for PoE2 has been abandoned. Builds of the week seem to be all zoom zoom. And skills seem to have really huge AoEs, even some that look like single target hit often multiple. I was afraid of this.

The reason is that some league mechanics, for example breach, spawn so many monsters that the player is immediately surrounded, which was a common complaint before the buffs hit. The only options are to reduce the enemy count or make players able to wipe that enemy count. And GGG followed their philosophy to accomodate the player, so they buffed everything without realizing what the true problem was: that players don't generally get surrounded, but only in specific situations of these league mechanics spwaning too much. And that is gonna lead to the same outcome like 10 years ago with PoE1.

The better approach would have been to not do that, but decrease monster spawns from these league mechanics instead, so that players have an escape route and still a fight at hand. Monsters can still be buffed to catch up with the original vision, make them stronger but decrease their numbers, I'd be interested in that. This could even be an experimental new league mechanic or region specific or some map craft.

I also dislike how common rare items now are, and how rolling player radius was reduced to 0, I think these were mistakes (0.5 for rolling radius would have been enough), but players were whining and GGG caved in very quickly. When they buffed rolling, they also said that players were getting surrounded too often, it was again the same problem, too many monsters! These changes are connected.

I guess the path is set in stone now, but I'd have really loved a different approach. Is a slower gameplay still something that's being looked at, or is it over?

Crafting/item drops:
Constant "+100% increased damage" rolls carry you through the campaign, it's the most crucial stat. While lategame crafting is so random people called it slot machine, and they don't pick up rare items anymore. I think this needs an overhaul.
- during campaign the rolls should be less extreme
- crafting seems to have improved with tiers of crafting materials
- dropped items should have an internal tier that is the average (or sum) of all tiers of affixes that gonna appear upon identification, and should be visible somehow when the item is still on the ground. For example "exellent rare boots" should be something rare that players want to pick up, because it's gonna have between t1 and t4 rolls on them (for example).

Obviously everyone will have his own view how the game should be. Feel free to discuss, hopefully in a positive manner. We all want the game to be fun to play.

The zoom zoom zoom conditions doesn't come randomly...
There are specific meta builds that ruining Jonathan's visions from making a game with meaningful combats.

Let's take for example Minion builds or Mercenary crossbow players who melt the mouse for a little damage. These builds never will be zoomers becouse even with a top quality weapon can't reach 1/10 damage of OP meta builds.

But this is the bitter truth. This game made by Devs that like OP builds.

POE2 has become zoom zoom POE1 with better graphics and worse fps.
With giga zoomy PoE1 league 3.27 I have a little hope that PoE2 will go in another direction next patch to not have two instances of the same game with the same mtxs.
I have hopes that PoE2 is made around slower gameplay initially and will get back to it to the release to grab the playerbase who likes the process of the game and not endgame casino with zooming 1 minute maps and 1 second bosses.

Else it seems a huge work done to the monster animation, boss skills, player skills requires screen clarity (parry/shield block/many combo skills), environments, sound and music just wasted.

Clearing entire screens in maps is easy archievable by almost any build. The problem is serius noticable when talking about boss killings. There you can test(and only with teaming) if your skills truly worth or sucks becouse you can cimpare how fast the others builds lowering the life of Boss.

when you see a dead Bosss before you trying to click the mouse then you realise "what a hell im doing in this game???"

I agree sadly that's why i don't play it anymore after campaign all endgame does is test your screen clear ability and bosses are so weak with a good build that it's a joke, the enjoyable bossfights slow pack to pack clear is dead in endgame.

They should make bosses scale with your damage, so everybody has to do the 2-3 min fight with them. Of course the more damage you do to them the better the loot would be.
Scaling bosses with your damage would not be a great idea. Doing that would eliminate every sense of progression in endgame, which will feel about as bad as just deleting bosses.

PoE2, and any ARPG in general, will never be perfectly balanced games that cater to every single player's sensibilities, so in the end we need to wait for what GGG will land on for the game for 1.0.

Some meta builds do need heavy tuning down though, if only for increasing viability of other builds to keep things interesting.
I think we have to wait for 0.4 to see what GGG has been cooking. 0.3 had massive swings on balance and core systems resulting in wild inconsistencies, although it’s better now.

When they eventually add WASD as an option i think i'll be playing poe 1 exclusively bcs right now i genuinely can't tell why poe 2 was made in the first place
My guess is they will allow zoom zoom on maps, but bosses will take a moment and be KO if no dodge properly.
