Talk About Greed
" It's more complex than an MTX. PC gaming used to be very cheap and full of small development companies who put passion and lots of work into making their games. In the mid 90's consoles were doing the same thing everyone is doing now. Releasing sub-par games for $70-80. It's a major reason I went to PC. They had a monopoly at the time and PC popularity broke it. Especially with it's far superior hardware. Enter Sony and Microsoft to the console market. Did you know EA was on the verge of bankruptcy before signing a contract with Microsoft? Eh, that's another story. EA was the founder of using MTX to abuse addictive behavior but that's more how MTX managed to enter the gaming scene. They managed this thanks to Microsoft backing them up. It was actually multi-platform releases that started the reduction in video game quality. Companies like Westwood, Bullfrog, Interplay, Raven, Looking Glass and even id Software couldn't manage that workload and so they were bought out by, guess who. The finale is cross platform. The monopoly is fully established once again. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac
