Reflection!, how this mechanics could be improved (Hey Community! Help me improve this idea!)
Hello All (poe community), and GGG team!
first of all, I'm playing POE for quite a while, and I love it.. About the reflection... I think that this mechanics as a whole is broken, let me explain why: All POE Builds Must have an anti-reflection strategy, and in most cases it means A LOT of passive points spent (If all builds need it, it's broken) The main problem is that its really hard to deal w/ it as a situational case, flasks wont save you at all if you are doing a really big amount of area dmg And sometimes the player will get killed before knowing that there is a reflection threat in the area (like shooting offscreen) .. How I think it could be implemented: I think that the "reflect (phys/ele) dmg" property on MoB should not exist Instead MoBs that would reflect dmg to players would instead CURSE the players w/ a specific reflection type - 1 curse for ele reflection - 1 curse for phys reflection (perhaps the punishment reviewed) With this mechanics the player will know that he's cursed, by an Icon on the top-left screen And also can deal w/ it w/ anti-curse flasks .. that's it! would like see some thoughts about it, perhaps an even-better mechanics for reflection adapting this idea or a completely different one :) WTS - IRL Superior Determination = PRICELESS Последняя редакция: HarleyCabral#7027. I think lowering that to a curse is nerfing it too much.
What happens with Hexfont (Nemesis mod) rares? They curse you all the time, reflecting a curse to you is useless because a half second later it is overwritten. Many maps have a curse mod, what happens than? What happens when the mod is already elemental weakness? Flasks can help you a lot with 10% extra MAXIMUM elemental resistance (besides implicit +50% resistance to the specific type and up to +30% for all elemental resistances). Physical Reflecting can be countered even more by Granite and Jade Flasks (YES, reflection can be evaded and even blocked). Actually I don't have that much of a problem against reflection (Phoenix Shield +8% maximum fire resistance) I'm not even using Purity of Fire. But I'm also not using a Crit Build so my damage is not that huge.^^ Yes to: do something about reflection. No to: get a weak curse on you instead. |

Reflect has been reworked in 2.0 (beta) to not penalize aoe builds as much. Specifically, the new reflect mobs no longer share an aura-type buff with nearby mobs. There is just one reflect monster in the middle, as opposed to an entire mob affected with the reflect buff.
AOE attacks will however have an increased chance of hitting the reflect monster, given the lack of control/aim. But the days of 1 shotting yourself vs reflect because of packsize are coming to and end. Correct me if I'm wrong about any of this. It was this way when I played beta a while back. Lastly I'd like to say....shark-farts. |
