How does armour affect energy shield?
Is it co-existent, to where armour adds to the durability of the energy shield? Or is armour separate from your energy shield and applies only to the durability of your life pool?
I want to know because I don't want to focus a lot on energy shield, armour, CI, just to discover that armour's damage resistence is only applied to HP and not ES. That would mean that I would die quickly, but I'm relatively sure that armour applies to both ES and HP damage mitigation modifiers, hence my Marauder's ES is low, and can take a bit of surprising hits. Armor, resists and evasion all works on ES. ES i pretty much like life in that regard.

" Thank you very much. This tells me another thing (tell me if this assessment is accurate), but I think I should focus on one or the other: ES/HP. The modifiers are multiplicative and not additive, so my % modifiers would be gutted. If I try to have a bit of ES here and a bit of HP there, I'm going to end up gimping my character, basically. " Yes that's the general theoretical approach most successful players take, although others do like a bit of both sorts of protection, within reason. Similar arguments have been made around pure armor, armor plus evasion, and pure evasion. Not to open that can of worms ;D I'd just like to add that I like how POE allows your ES to be as resistant as YOU are, as opposed to the similar sorts of skills in D2, which became almost useless late game because your shield (of whatever type) would get one-shotted by most enemies due to the -resist%. I'm looking at you, cyclone armor. GJ, GGG. -Aaron |

" Suppose if I didn't go CI, so I could use blood magic gems on auras to attain Pain Attunement abuse. Would that be a good investment if allocated properly? You will never see a man faking anger, passion and relentless behavior.

" I you want to go the low life route you need a lot of life and good chaos resistance unless you want to die all the time to chaos damage. Remember that it goes through your energy shield. |

" Somehow that went right over my head. :) One last question: How does fork affect Freezing Pulse? I know how LMP and GMP affects it, but I haven't seen any questions about FP + Fork. That I know of. You will never see a man faking anger, passion and relentless behavior.

Freezing Pulse always pierces. a skill can only either fork or chain or pierce. It can't do all of it together. Hence, because FP always pierces, it can neither fork nor chain, ever.

" Despite FP being a projectile, Fork nor Chain synergize with it. It does however always pierce. Actually now thinking about it, that's probably because of the precedence where if something pierces, it can't fork and if something forks, it can't chain and since FP always pierces it can't do either of the other two. |

Again, I'm being an idiot. I already knew FP pierces at the back of my head. I will never begin to understand why looking for an original build takes you back a few steps rather than forward at times. :(
