Culling strike with "enemies cannot die"

Sorry for the possibly stupid question but I can't find the answer anywhere. If there is an effect in place where enemies cannot die or you cannot kill enemies unless they're ignited, etc.

I assume culling strike doesn't ignore that rule, but what I'm hoping for is culling strike triggers but reduces the enemy to 1. Any information is much appreciated!

Not sure exactly what you are trying to accomplish, but there are these https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Southbound
It would only work on non-crit attack builds.
Thank you, I know there are items that cause that effect. My main question is just: does culling strike with an item such as southbound still trigger, only instead of an instant kill it drops them to 1? Or does culling strike never trigger and damage is dealt as normal?
Culling Strike is not Damage, but an effect that you cannot trigger; it won't set the enemy to 1 Life.

This.

Culling Strike says "you die now".

Cannot Die mod says "no I don't".

Nothing else happens.
Alright, thank you! I wasn't certain if Culling Strike would still try to kill the enemy or not. It's unfortunate for what I was attempting to do, but it's nice knowing for certain now. Thank you!

Southbound works with caster builds as well and they can be crit as long as you don't have added cold to spells.
