Checking resources...... is the pest!

WTF is this crap with the "checking resoucrces" every single time???
My PC is "checking resources" since 20 minutes now! What the hell takes so long? I have 1500 GB free on my HDD - fine! Install this shit finally!

What´s wrong with this thing? Can´t we have a decent installation routine after 5 years?

Boy that´s annoying! What are you actually doing on my PC? Scanning all my files?

your pc is too slow. on my old laptop it would take me 20 minutes as well,now on the new one it literally takes 5-10 seconds

Just the ones contained in the GGPK file. It checksums them, to ensure they are in good health, which detects failed installs and disk corruption.

If you want to have a faster alternative, the Steam install of PoE will avoid their installer; it isn't necessarily faster during patching, but it doesn't bother with this routine checking. (At the higher risk of disk failures leading to odd errors, but whatever, I don't think you should care about that trade-off in this day and age.)

What is it based on, just out of curiosity? I know the zone load time and breach-masses-of-mobs improvements were all due to an upgrade to SSD, but what would be the improvement to the Checking Resources - internet speed? SSD?

No.... my PC is certainly not too slow. I play on the same PC that I work on and I do CGI as a Freelancer - this is a pretty much maxed out 1 year old workstation. But several harddiscs with hundreds of thousands of files.

On my "private" Laptop, a "clean" machine with only a few games on, the installer also runs a lot faster. So it has to do sth with the amount of data / files stored on the PC I could swear.

Anyway that routine is unique - I have several other online games that also "check" your files but they are done in a few seconds.

Nonsense. The installer reacts in the same way to a system without even a trace of PoE.

As an idle aside, on systems without a trace of PoE, does "checking resources" come before or after "allocating space"?

Me too. Checking resources takes like 10-20 mins while actual downloading time for patch only seconds! As far as I know PoE is the ONLY game that goes so slow. Maybe GGG has signed a silent contract with SSD manufacturers (joking ofc)?
