Season Five, Event 8: 1 Hour Cutthroat Party

This league has Cutthroat and Hardcore enabled, when you die to enemies of any type you will be moved to Standard league.

A summary of hardcore Cutthroat rules:
  • This is a separate short-duration league that has its own stash (as usual). At the end of the event, characters and stashed items will be moved to Hardcore.
  • There's a PvP damage multiplier because players start with a lot more life than they do damage. This multiplier will be adjusted substantially based on feedback from this event and others.
  • Players are hostile by default to players who are not in their party.
  • You can ctrl+click on the entrance to an area to use the Instance Management screen to manually enter any other player's instance of an area.
  • Cut-throat instances can hold a maximum of 12 players.
  • This is a hardcore league. When you die, you will be moved to standard league, you lose the normal experience penalty for your difficulty plus 30% of your current level. You also drop all inventory and equipped items. Your flasks, skill gems (even ones in your inventory) and quest items are not dropped.
  • If you were killed by another player, your lost experience is split among their party.
  • If you attempt to abruptly leave the game in a non-town instance, you have to wait 5 seconds and are unable to move or use flasks.
  • The grace period of invulnerability upon entering an area is 20 seconds. This should start once the player is mostly done loading.
  • Non-partied players only show up on the map if they're nearby.
  • There are no notifications for players joining or leaving areas.
  • Portals cannot be used until they have been up for five seconds.
  • You cannot apply microtransaction effects to items in cut-throat. You may dance and have pets.

haha :)
A suggestion:

The idea behind cut throat is pretty cool, i for one would like nothing more than to "gank" other players in certain instances.

(yes, i like being a rogue exile).

Maybe introduce a point system for X number of people killed? I know it might be difficult to avoid certain situations like:

- People leaving party to kill their friend for bonus "points".

I'm sure you guys can have a work around to this.

Would be nice to get points for killing people :D
poe.xyz.is - there's your auction house.
So players kills = stay in hc, or do you get sent down as well?
So CT is virtually unchanged? Well done...
This is going to be the most fun I'v ever had with pants on.

Try taking your pants off while doing it... you're going to get mindblooooown!

I should add, the placement should be based on # of kills & the quality of the kills based on the total combined xp of the victims.

example: you & another kill 14 people. the total sum of all the xp of your victims is used as the tiebreaker against the other player's 14 kills.

i have an idea for cutthroat races and leagues!

How about you make it so people are only able to join a lower level character's instance if the character is x number of levels below the higher level character.

It would take a lot of balancing out but to start here's an example:

from levels 1 to 4, there is a instance invading level cap of -2, meaning a level 1 can be invaded by a level 2 or 3, while a level 4 can be invaded by a level 5 and 6..something along those lines.

As characters begin to level up, the differential would naturally expand from the -2 cap to -3, -4 and so on. Again this will require some testing among the devs & alphas.

I do think it is should be made that a lower level character can invade the instance of a higher level character with no limit. This serves two purposes:

1) a lower level character with really good gear can potentially take out characters a few levels above their own.

2) if a lower lever character, for whatever reason, decided to join an instance that was abandoned by a higher level character, that particular instance can be invaded by a different higher level character. I imagine if it were possible to write code for this, once an instance has been abandoned, the level differential cap no longer applies to this particular instance.

an example of the second suggestion here is, for some unlikely reason a lower level character decides to enter an old instance to get past cleared areas for the sole purpose of reaching a waypoint. In this very unlikely scenario, a higher level could jump in a pk the lower level who was trying to avoid trouble.

Great game, as always GGG. :) No complaints here!

Henry GGG says : "Mors, we're changing how points work in CT".

ok.
"When I close my eyes, I see this thing, a sign, I see this name in bright blue neon lights with a purple outline. And this name is so bright and so sharp that the sign - it just blows up because the name is so powerful... It says, "Diamond Supporter."
Is there a forum for party making? I'm still kinda new to the community and the only other person I know who doesn't think this game is "only grinding" doesn't do races or PvP.

Thx in advance for the info,
May the odds be ever in your favor.
