Prismatic Eclipse - Double Strike

I have read various threads which always write down the prismatic eclipse. I run the weapon as my off-hand in a double strike build. And I'm curious if others find it to be a highly viable option. Double strike relys on your main hand for DPs, and the offhand is used as a stat stick. This would make the eclipse one of the best choices?
