Just think about PoE having every slot on your character with 400%+ increased damage + crit + crit multi + attack/cast speed items. It's a joke.

POE has a passive tree to do that with, different system same outcome.

=0

No, it is not the same. Main stat is a 1:1 raw damage modifier that D3 characters stack upwards of 10000. That's a 100x modifier to everything. Nothing like that exists in PoE. Not on gear, not in the tree, and certainly not as a generic modifier for any skill. Also, GGG actually lowered crit% and crit multi because the scaling was unbalanced comparative to non-crit builds. There are no non-crit builds in D3.

I see your point and won't argue the fact of "how",but the "why" of my post and point in saying "Different systems leading to the same conclusion".

The goal in both games is making bigger damage numbers to kill bigger/badder enemies,in wonderfully joyous ways...... and hopefully get some loot in the process.I admit that it is a very basic view of the genre, but is the heart and soul of ARPGs none the less,or at least once was. =P

There's is nothing different in the conclusion, the only difference is reaching that conclusion. One is obviously more shallow and streamlined to achieving that goal while the other has a less obvious path that needs traversing to prolong the journey.

It's a case of "all roads lead to Rome"

If that's what you want to argue then what was the purpose of posting that response? Literally every game with levels and stats whether good or bad falls into that useless comparison. It's like saying two movies have the same conclusion because they both have ending credits.

Nope,it's like saying both movies have the same conclusion of killing the bad guys and saving the world ..... but went about it in totally different ways.

One was a long winded Lord of the Rings saga while the other was a short action packed Diesel movie.Chalk and cheese, doesn't make one any better than the other accept on a personal "I like oranges" level.

Which is all this thread is basically about .... apples and oranges.

People still defending each side like their life depends on it and forcing their opinions. Lame.
lol reading this thread... it's like when people compare cats to dogs
they usually either say "dogs are the best, cats fucking suck" or "cats are the best, dogs fucking suck"
is it not possible for people to like them both? or to like one more than the other, without putting one at an extreme and the other one at its antipode?

BTW i like both cats and dogs but i prefer cats
i can enjoy both games but i prefer poe

ok
D3 is to go all the leisure, with a spoon feed everything literally like no skill involved in the game is still a state of mind that never pussy.

I have both PoE and D3 installed.
I am an average or below average player.
I updated D3 to the latest patch yesterday.
I don't have Reaper Of Souls expansion, just the basic version.
I played D3 yesterday for around 3 minutes from which I spent 2 minutes in the menu.

I now have PoE installed.

I got myself the RoS expansion to test the latest patch of D3 and i am not disappointed.

PoE still remains top of the line for actual theory and mechanical crafting in my opinion. But when it comes to actual combat flow i think D3 wins in that department.(admittedly this is because i simply love the monk and his play-animations...)

A simple example of the mechanical depth when comparing D3 vs PoE

D3 enabled these fist weapons in this season with the attribute

"seven sided strike now deals 7 additional strikes"

All fine and cool to use, but extremely binary in its implementation and as an extension, in potential theory-craft.

Now if PoE where to implement this item it would be something like this

"Seven sided strike now deals 1 additional strike per 1000 vitality"

A lot more depth, more emphasis on entire build design and concept, more space for a player to work with.

Both games are cool in there current state, totally different and satisfying a different quirky nature of mine.

Peace,
