Path of WTB / WTS

nait2k4, I am afraid I won't be betting these few chaos. You and MrTremere are unfortunately right, people are people and some will do anything to sell sell sell. I like to think though these people are minority and your common folk would happily use something else that is designed for trade. Plus I wonder, wouldn't it be possible to block someone from spamming Trade Chat, Board and lets say AH (just an example of trading system, don't flame me please) at the same time? Using Trade Chat? Can't advertise on Board and such.

I assume questions and thoughts like that are part of the big picture design process around whatever trade system GGG are looking to implement.

You'll probably find that the traders/flippers are some of the most consistent culprits (I use this loosely, I'm not implying a breach of ToS) - I would bet that the vast proportion of WTB/WTS parties are just macros from Trade Chat spammers, and because they are the ones most heavily invested in broad-spectrum advertising, I doubt there would much GGG could automate to prevent them from continuing their current activity.

That used to be a pretty easy and viable approach (and still is at the beginning of a league). Lately though, not so much. The WTB/WTS tend to be on timers to bump them back up and keep them visible, so turnover is pretty swift on the limited noticeboard slots.

It still works, but it is not really as effective as previous. YMMV depending on when you play and what gateway you're using of course.

I'd love to see separate notice boards, one for all the item spam and one for mapping parties.

Simple solution: One board for trading, one for party play. If someone posts a trading party in the party play board, it is removed (simple search for item names, WTB WTS, whatever. There are easily recognizable patterns here). If they are repeat offenders, they are banned from posting public parties for a while.

OR

Remove the cap for the number of parties and allow for more advanced filtering of parties. Something other than just a text search, maybe something that filters out any party that has "WTB" or "WTS" in its name.

It's a really simple issue to fix, and a really annoying problem. Why on earth do I need to filter through 30 trading parties to find one non-trading party? It's a bit ridiculous.
