Ignoring your creative rantings for a second, I will assume you have good intentions and are trying to contribute to the community in a positive way. To that end:

How could this tool be improved so that someone as security conscious as yourself would consider using it, or at least think to them self, hey that's a nice tool(like you did with shops indexer thread).

The only options as I see it are:
Try to import the pathofexile.com PHP session cookie from the default browser. This can be done, but from a security point of view, this seems far worse as it would involve filtering out all the other cookies on the system which will likely contain sensitive info(gmail / internet banking etc).

Allow the user to paste in the session ID? The user would have to know how to get this, it's not hard and could be introduced into the FAQ, but not most convenient way.

That's about it really. What would be absolutely awesome, is if GGG introduced a account API key. This would mean the user can specify what this key has access to(stash/invent/character data) and the URL would just include the key in the GET request. This would essentially mitigate all the security concerns I think.
