As life-based char, which defensive stat do you stack on gear (armor, evasion, ES..)?

How much better is a dagger vs scepter for this build, assuming stats are the same.
Is using infernal mantle good for this ?

I'm trying to start off this league with this build. Levelling was okayish, but now I'm struggling even with t1 maps, cause I do too little damage with my totems and too squishy.

Could anyone point what's wrong with my char? Aside of no cast speed on amulet, 4 wrong points in tree, and missing lighting res capped.

I might switch your dagger for a Divinarius or something with a little more damage for now. Cast speed is nice but not at the loss of 90+ spell crit and 50+ spell damage IMO.

Also if damage is your problem possibly switch the shield for another divinarious until you can get a good dmg / cast speed dagger.

Dagger's can roll with crit chance base.. scepter with elemental damage.


Elemental damage can scale with ignite after you hit.. but wont really double stack

Crit change increases the amount of damage on a hit.

If you are not using a shield.. use dagger as you can use whirling blades.. if you are using a shield it doesn't matter as you can use shield charge with a scepter or a dagger (which in my opinion is better)

overall later game, a dagger can be better with crit chance scaling with top tier rolls.. but ignite damage on most bosses outside of uber atziri/LAB (cannot be ignited) can burn down boss's pretty quickly.

to start, you are still life based with no armor. Hybrid can work.. but you need a lot more ES on items to make that work.

If you are sticking with life based (which is fine) you would need to switch out to armor based (or at least evasion)

The point of ES is to have higher amounts of "life" to take the big hits. With life based, the numbers will be lower, however armor will mitigate that damage. All Res is important, but a mob can run in close and smack you for 100% with no armor (or evasion to dodge it)

A lot better. Purely because you can use Whirling Blades. I wish it wasnt so...a lot cheaper to get cast speed/crit/spell damage wands.
This may have been asked, but if I want to try out the Hierophant quad totems, do I still setup my tree for crit and use dual daggers?

Or do I drop the crit altogether, get increased damage nodes, and use Controlled Destruction + Elemental Focus?

Cast speed is important on this build and will speed up clear-speed tremendously. The reason is, Fireblast on a totem will not cast until either it hits 10 stacks, dies, or is recasted.

Having at least 100% cast speed (higher is always better) will allow the totems to hit that 10 stack mark much faster, and at 10 stacks is when it hits the hardest. The faster the totem hits 10.. the faster it hits.. the more it hits.. the faster it clears ect.

As stated before - Cast Speed:

two 7% rings
20+% on a Dagger, or two if you want
Cast speed on ammy (I use eye of chayula for stun immunity, but with totems you can play safe without it)
running two or more 2-5% jewels (Cast speed / attack & cast / cast while holding a shield / Cast while Duel Wielding ---- multiple jewel stats to get cast speed)
Lightning Golem leveled up its 9%
Faster Castking skill gem

Damn, THANKS for mentioning this,
i already knew i would need more Castspeed but i didn't think it would make such a difference :)
changed some gear yesterday and.... WOW
DPS is slightly lower (i think it was from 2100 tooltip to 1800ish)
BUT trash still is oneshot and the flameblasts are appearing so much faster. you can dash through the mobs, cast totem, dash further and don't have to worry if they all will die.

so this is only 40% more castspeed than bevore and i still can upgrade to a bit more ( second ring with castspeed, jewels, maybe a second dagger with castspeed and switching to whirling baldes instead of shieldcharge)

other question:
is this build good for uberlab farming? in my opinion it should be because bosses never had been a problem till now
also merciless lab was faceroll at lvl 75

i'm still not sure if i should chage my skilltree to the skilltree mentioned in the build guide here(actually i skilled like ZIZ's build)
because i wanted to switch to vaal spark but i think much currency is needed for gear to get this vaal spark build going...
AND i have to use about 60 respec points to swap to vaal spark
Maybe i save currency for complete ES Gear and switch to the ES version...
