Tombfist + Jeweller's Orb
Hi,
I have Tombfist with 2 abyss sockets and 1 red socket. Will using Jeweller's Touch to get 4th socket remove any of the abyss sockets? How about Orb of Fusing - is it possible to link 2 non-abyss sockets? Last bumped31 янв. 2018 г., 11:56:08

The gem slots are completely independent from the abyss sockets, and using a jewelers/fusings on it will never effect the abyss sockets (also 'jeweller's touch', you mean 'jeweller's orb' right?)
Also they can drop with either 1 or 2 abyss sockets, on poe.trade there is now a "Abyssal sockets: Min/Max" field in the search options, if you only want to find 2 socket ones. ign:Cursedflame Последняя редакция: Cursedflame#1619. Время: 17 дек. 2017 г., 07:08:45

few mins ago i used a jeweler's orb on a 2 abyssal and 1 socket.
well it removed an abyssal and i've got an abyssal+1 socket. then i spammed until i've got 3sockets and 1 abyssal. so i ripped a 150c one, you can think i have made a huge mistake and prolly it had 1 abyssal in the beginning, but i am quite sure it had 2 of em. no one in global trusted me, stating that abyssal can't be changed. |

" Can someone confirm this? It was my understanding Abyssal sockets can not be 'removed' by jewelers. An item with two of them will never have anything other but 2. IGN: Arlianth

Ive jewellered and divined 2 socket abyss gloves without removing the 2 sockets with either process, it was my understanding that neither of these things could change the 2 sockets and thats how it seemed to work when I tried.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

Recently used 2-3 jewelers and a fuse on a 2 abyss socket helm without a problem.

" Abyssal sockets can't be changed. I think you may have gotten scammed on your purchase. It can be easy to make a single abyssal socket item LOOK like a 2 abyss item. If you take the helm for example and roll 3 sockets + 1 abyssal jewel and LINK ONLY THE TOP TWO sockets it LOOKS like a 2 socket + 2 Abyss helm... when in reality is that it is a 3 socket - one abyss item the whole time. I think you got scammed when the guy sold you the original item imo. |

If the abyssal socket comes from an implicit (eg: the belt has an implicit granting one socket), and you vaal another implicit onto it, the original one is gone along with any effects. Which means no more socket.
If the abyssal sockets are not implicits, I'm not certain, but I wouldn't bet against a vaal "change the number of sockets" removing them. |

The non-Enthroned uniques all have an explicit mod stating "this item has [X] Abyssal sockets". This mod should be overriding Jeweler's Orbs and ensuring the item always has its stated number of Abyssal sockets. If you glitched the item (and are absolutely certain you weren't scammed, as outlined above), then you should submit a bug report to Grinding Gear as this is unintended behavior. As best a player can tell, anyways.
