There is a lot of bitching and moaning in here that reminds me far too much of the D3 forums.
If the time investment doesn't make sense to you for your perceived 'reward' of playing in the race then don't play in the race.
Coming home and playing for a few hours in the evening for a week should never end up with anything resembling a top level reward in this game. And this is coming from someone who is never going to see a top level reward in this game. God knows the gaming industry is flooded with games that give excessive rewards just for turning them on; we don't need PoE being another of them.
Much like in real life, just showing up and 'trying' doesn't mean you get a trophy.

Because if this is top 20 total I think we won't see almost any of a certain class.
Top 20 total, there is no class distinction in these prizes. You should play whatever class thinks gives you the best chance.
And do you guys at GGG think that's OK? Sincerely curious, not sarcasm. If you knew that 1 class is 25% better than the rest, would that not warrant some kind of change to the rewards?
I feel every single reward in this game should be class based as long as classes are extremely skewed in their ability to level within these time frames, but that's just my opinion.
The fact that this is a party race means it doesn't matter that much really, but if you were to do a 1 week solo race it would.
Same thing with the "first to complete quest X" or "first to clear X" rewards, those are always completed by the same classes, why can't at least those be class specific?
If you actually look at the ladder, every class is represented in the Top 20, except for Duelist. In a 1 week race where you will be going into other classes trees anyway, class really does not matter at all, and it makes perfect sense that it is not separated by class. Because instead of people playing whatever class they wanted, they would have to try and meta-game to determine what class they think would be the least played, and play that.
I was first at dualist SMASH ladder. And died to nothing at Vaal. Literally. I was was hit by a falling rock, so i ran away next to the ACT ending door(closed) and my character lost all of his health, there were no rocks falling on that spot, no adds shot at me, no laser shot, nothing. So im guessing desinc. I am very sad. And wish there will be another SMASH event...
