Fenumus' Lair - Boss damage type?

Remember guys: having 0% chaos res means that you basically take 300% more chaos damage than you should. Negative res only makes this worse.

It isn't, get positive chaos resistance and its much much easier, I did my fenumus with my friend on his scorching ray character with 10% chaos res and i died 5x and he just jogged around taking a little hit here and there while he chipped it down.

Would be interesting to know the difference in the received degen effect in comparison to the usually ~ -40% chaos resists, people may have at this stage.

When i first encountered this boss on my Hiero the ground effects dropped my 6.4k HP to around 1.5k in approx. 750ms, with -40% resists to chaos damage.

That was at the time when Fenumus was not targetable in the second phase.
Not sure if the ground-effect damage was adjusted in the meantime.

With 5.6k HP and 53% chaos resist i literally just facetanked it. Didn't even bother to move out of the chaos degen that approx. did 1k per second.

SO yeah, get some chaos resist.

Equip two max roll (read: minimum life reduction of 5%, not the higher amounts) Ming's Hearts and go to town on Fenumus.

Most chaos damage in the game is balanced around the expectation that players will have -60% to 0% chaos res. Once you get into positive resistances (especially high numbers of 50%+) chaos damage, on-hit or otherwise, becomes a joke.

Very interested in seeing how much damage Fenumus actually does when a player has capped Chaos. GGG may have made some of her damage physical.
