Yeah, the way the armour works in POE is laughable.
I hate all systems in games that work in a way of "rating". They are: 1)Misinforming the player - usualy giving bad feedback 2)Limiting information - since who the hell will calculate on the run whats the diffrence between armor x and armor y ? 3)Make things overcomplicated for no reason I would totally scrap down POE rating systems and go straight to x% values and x values for every resistance there is in game. x% - reduce all dmg by x%, no matter the value (good versus bosses) x - reduce all dmg by flat x value (good versus trash) Easy to understand and easier to balance than current system. No misunderstood values by the players. The most funny thing in POE was that in closed beta, there was no penalty for the armour reduction based on the hit. GGG then was like "OMG so people who build tanky actualy can tank, impossibru lets nerf this". |

armour is weak against large hits, unless you pair it with high physical damage reduction (endurance charges and some other mods). Last season I got ~45k armour and 56-70% flat phys reduction and yes, this was enough to survive high-end phys attacks like Shaper's teleport slam
armour is designed very well in this game. it makes sense in RL that armour protects better against smaller hits, and most importantly, it allows that armour and evasion are somewhat balanced. You are not supposed to tank large hits (that you should avoid in first place) just because you stacked some mediocre armour. that would be very unbalanced compared to other defenses in game. " It does. Imagine being clad in a suit of full plate mail. You won't even notice someone throwing pebbles at you. A sledgehammer hit you'll feel but it probably won't hurt too bad. Get in the way of a wrecking ball though and it's like the armour isn't even there. The way the damage reduction is presented to the player is confusing, that I agree with. And to be honest there probably isn't a way to present it in a way that is both complete and understandable. |

QoL improvement about this is missing from years...idk lack of what stops ggg to fix it. I prefer to play around endurance charges, most life regen from tree or AA+MoM but anything with armour even for STR classes. :/
