Client will not launch (neither Steam nor standalone)

I will look into using DDU and other ways to uninstall / reinstall display drivers. If I get any of them to work, I will post here for people with similar problems.

Fixed it!

Completely removed my graphics driver with DDU https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html in safe mode and reinstalled the driver.

Strange. It worked for me as well. Must have been a problem with the new driver update?

Unfortunately, it hasn't worked for me - I used DDU in Safe Mode to remove old drivers, and I am still seeing the same failure to launch along with the same error in the Event Viewer.

I tried opening the game with the default Windows graphics driver, as well as a clean install of the latest driver. Still getting this strange crash.

I'm also having the problem. Updating my graphics driver didn't fix it. :(

Hi. I just had the problem this morning. I fixed it easily by following the steps below. I hope this will help you. It works for me anytime I have an exception issue.


1. Download CCcleaner.

2. Select "Registry" for cleaning. Start the process under registry.

3. It will ask you if you wish to backup the registry in case. I never do and have never had a problem.

4. The program will evaluate your registry and show a list of unlinked lines and junk. This effects your computer very much. You will notice in the errors found there will be the pathing for PoE.

5. Let the program fix the errors. Run it again to verify no remaining problems.

6. After complete, just run PoE and it will be clear. At least it has for me everytime I have had a pathing error.
