Possible solution for lagging/crashing in new content
Helped me a bunch
I whole heartedly believe their is an issue with the MTX's mainly, but would like to see the findings from GGG's side. As of the last 24 hours, i still have only had once crash and am now working on T12 maps and still doing all content |

The company that bought GGG, they own MTX as well?

" Yeah but most people will not configure their modem/ router they just use it as is. They do not think it is an issue on their end and always think it is the other away around. But you have to do everything in your power to say "Hey look I did this, I did , that, I have done this and it is still happening." This does 2 things 1) It shows that you took time to make sure it is not your end. 2) It shows them that there is a problem and it is most likely on their end. You went above and beyond, well you are IT experience and really want to find an answer to help everyone. Now is there a website that people should be going to, to help configure their modem/ router. I still have not done mine yet, myself. I forget who I called last time to help configure mine. Not sure if it is the Modem company, my ISP company or if I called Xbox Support or if just looked online at Xbox Support website. |

I have been crashing like crazy with frost blades. GGG needs to fix this.

MTX does seem to put a lot of stress on the XBox at times, but it's not the main reason people are crashing, IMO.
There are some obvious issues when the XBox is under a lot of graphics stress, especially with particle effects. And, there's a lot of particle effects in many player's MTX setups since those are flashy and sell well... A couple of seasons ago, I ran a Molten Strike setup and decided to push everything as far as I could with MTXs. I really loaded up on them. And, I did amazing wtfstupid stuff with Molten Strike and effects going off all over the place. I loaded up on pets with fancy effects and the like, too, trying to see how gaudy and expensive an MTX setup I could get. I had ZERO issues with any crashes due to "graphics overload." Zero. Nada. TLDR at the bottom But, if, for instance, I had a friend or several all in-game and blasting stuff all over the place, with full MTX setups with particle effects vomitting all over the place, I'm sure things would have been different. Heck, just zoning into Oriath was sometimes risky with everyone's particle effects splashing all over the place. But, even with Oriath being crowded with what appears to be max-limit players and pets and ground effects and sparklies, the game didn't crash just because I walked through it. If there had been one enemy mob in there, though, and if I had Moletn Striked it, I would have probably been staring at my Home Screen. So, yeah, there is some effect there when the game's visuals just become too heavy. But, IMO, the biggest issue is when there are a lot of mobs on the screen getting hit by character effects/attacks that have to be calculated individually, depending upon distance/range or with secondary effects that have to also be calculated. And, considering how finicky PoE's position reporting is between the game and servers (rubberbanding) imagine if you get into a situation where the game doesn't know where you are and its busy trying to figure out what you just hit, what its range was, what the secondary/chaining effects were and what other mobs got hit, all with auras depending upon your character's position? So, how much data is exchanged between your XBox and the outside world when playing PoE? Check. It's a huge amount of data compared to some other games. That makes sense, being a multiplayer-enabled game, but it's still ridiculous. And, every time you do something in-game, something is getting communicated to the servers. Your position, opening a chest, hitting a mob, casting a spell, etc... It's a darn heavy load of data and if you're also having graphics processing issues while in the middle of a swarm of mobs all getting secondary effects, you're going to have a bad time if you've got a connection issue. There was a time, back during Bestiary I think, where I was having serious issues with crashing. I did everything I could, but no joy. I started diagnosing my connection from router to PoE's servers. An occasional burp/problem, but not so frequent as to account for all the crashes. Then, I diagnosed my network, checking to be sure there wasn't an issue internally. As expected, everything was making it to the router properly. Finally, I got my ISP involved and they came out and replaced my modem - Problem fixed. 1) Most people tend to disable UPnP in their modem settings. (In some few cases, it's disabled by default, but usually not. Disabling it is usually a security precaution.)) If one is doing this, one likely already knows enough to set up one's components on one's own. However, XBox uses PnP to manage/setup a variety of features. Enabling UPnP on one's router/modem setup will allow XBox to manage settings, like for multiplayer and voice-chat. 2) IMO, DMZ'ing one's XBox is using "The Nuclear Option." Instead, forward or trigger the ports XBox needs to use if you're not enabling UPNP or have restricted those ports. https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/networking/network-ports-used-xbox-live IIRC, PoE does not require additional ports open/available. 3) Check your internal network. You want a wired connection with no packet loss at all. (If you're running your XBox over wifi, then it's yourproblem... Do not expect any help or your game to run smoothly until you hardwire it. Period.) Then, check your connection from your modem to PoE's servers. You can find IPs for those somwehere around here, but for the US Washington server, it's: wdc.login.pathofexile.com 158.85.40.111 PoE Servers and those for XBox players are the same, according to a post I saw by a community rep somewhere around here. If you have any packet-loss showing, you're going to have an issue in-game. Packet loss is most likely your problem. But, if you're getting bad latency or drops between nodes, you need to contact your ISP. At that point, it's no longer your problem. 4) Let XBox do some diagnostics for you. Use XBox's own diagnostic tools to see what your XBox "thinks" the problem is. Settings/Network and then the "Detailed" or verbose or whatever the diagnostics tool is that gives detailed info. Have you done everything and does it still suck? Grats - Again, your problem. 5) When was the last time your ISP ran out a new series of modems? In the US, broadband ISPs generally supply router/modem combos to their customers. Why? They're easier to troubleshoot, push bios updates to, support, and get info from. And, it keeps customers from calling in with problems nobody else has. So, how old is your modem? If your ISP-Supplied modem has an inch of dust on it and hasn't moved for five years and is likely older than that bottle of ketchup you've got stashed in the back of the fridge, it probably needs to be replaced. Luckily, at least in the majority of cases in the US, replacing your ISP-Supplied modem is "free." All you have to do is either take it to your local ISP office, give them a call to come out and give you one OR bitch long enough and loud enough on their customer service line that they send a tech out. When he gets there, tell him you want a new one and he'll grab one off the back of his truck. (Usually. And, those guys try their hardest to get the "new" ones, not the refurbs, so they don't have to deal with crappy refurbished modems on a call.) It's usually a smart idea to just go ahead and replace an old modem. It solves so many problems. But, since many ISPs use refurbished modems and just cycle them around among customers, it's a good idea to see what you can do, yourself, first. Then, if nothing else works, get a new modem and, preferably, a tech to come out on-site to install it and check your connections for you. After days of dealing with issues with crashes a few seasons ago, my issues were largely solved by A) Replacing my Modem with a brand-new one, and B) Allowing XBox to manage hardware comm settings by enabling UPnP. (The latter could be alleviated by proper forwarding, but XBox seems happiest with UPnP accessible to it.) I honestly doubt that my XBox One is so different from everyone elses as to be free from all these "MTX-Caused Crash Issues" as to account for my much more smooth play experience with loads of MTXs versus other's reports of constant crashes due to their "MTXs." What is far more likely is that it is a combination of issues. Yes, too much MTX can cause problems, but I think that one is going to encounter crash frequency directly proportional to how much data is being exchanged between one's XBox and PoE servers and how clean one's connection is. PS: Protip - You have 45 seconds of invulnerability for you and your minions when you first enter a zone if you don't move or take an action. So, use that to let XBox chug through loading needed data before you do anything. You'll be happier if you do this if you've previously just started dashing all over the place before everything has finished loading. TLDR: The health of your connection is much more critical to game performance. MTX can/could have an effect in some situations, but not as critical as the other data you're having to deal with. Make sure your connection is healthy. When in doubt, call your ISP and get whatever free tech visits/service you can, especially making sure your modem is of the latest series that they offer, preferably brand-new, still in the box, covered in shrink-wrap and a total virgin... Get whatever free ISP service visit you can to get them to come out and check your lines. Let THEM help you do the work. And, if your ISP doesn't do that sort of thing or you live in a cave, that's unfortunately your problem. That sounds harsh, but that's just life. You'll have to work harder than others to fix your problem. Start with builds that don't hit everything on the screen at once with multiple effects and auras in order to help reduce the amount of data the game needs to exchange with PoE servers. (Don't "spam" opening chests, either, since it seems every one of them requires server data. If one doesn't open when clicked, wait a few seconds and try again, etc.) PS - A word on possible MTX issues: G^3's monetization model is to sell in-game currency that is largely spent on "vanity" items. (MTX) In order to have the opportunity to make the most cash, they release new MTXs very, very, frequently. And, what does that mean to me? It means that with each release of new MTX there's a corresponding increased risk of new problems arising due to that MTX. So, yes, it is possible that someone could rush out MTX that has an issue with it if it's not very carefully debugged before it gets released. Also, G^3 adds new content every quarter to encourage players to keep playing and buying MTX/Stash tabs. And, with each release, there's a corresponding increased chance of a problem being introduced that wasn't caught in their internal bug-hunt. What this means is that there could, indeed, be issues with new abilities, pets, non-optimized MTX, mobs, items, etc... introduced with a new League. And, that means such problems are not your fault. ie: Not your problem. Unfortunately, that also means you have to wait for G^3 to fix them... Make sure you keep an eye open on the bug reports pages and update FAQs. For instance, there was a problem with Molten Strike not long ago. How many players blamed their XBox or Connection issues to something other than a buggy Molten Strike introduced in a patch? Keep informed. Последняя редакция: Morkonan#5844. WOW that is a long read.
And all very true, and very informative. But again it comes down this. PEBCAM (Problem Exists Between Chair and Modem) What have you done on your side to make sure it is not your end. Here is another tip. Stretch out your arm and make a closed fist. Now stretch out your index finger. Now Turn your hand over. See those other fingers they are pointing back at you. So make sure you have done everything on your end to make sure you are not the problem. If you do not take the time to do the above steps that these folks above have mentioned, well then PEBCAM. I play in parties, and whenever too many enemies die too quick or when someone manages to kill a huge pack too fast. someone or everyone crashes.
To test this theory i made a instance destroyer build. No cosmetics, lots of firestorms, lots of ignites, lots of cwdt. crash, crash, crash, crash. If i don't crash myself, another player is crashing in my stead. The crash only happens if i manage to kill too many too quick, or take too long to kill too many. no mtxs equipped. PC players already have an explanation for this. You're doing more than what the tick rate can handle. Which is why when u have a build that does crazy stuff, it'll crash the instance if you cant kill the enemies fast enough. Except on xbox if you do just that, you still crash. I petition Console players get a higher tick/send rate on the servers(like 250+), to try to mitigate this. "DMZ the xbox......" rofl. edit for clarity. Последняя редакция: sirjonnyboy#5817. The issue here is, GGG let us pay for something we can't use or it crashes the game. That is how you lose your player base.
|

This isn't an internet issue this 100% tied to skills and vanity items. I played all yesterday with all costumes offs.. no crashes besides the stash box one in town. If I stay afk without cosmetics on I'm fine if I do with them on I dashboard like crazy...take your cosmetics off and watch how all issues randomly go away.

" That might have worked for you. But, it is a mistake to assume that everyone's crash/lag/drops are caused by "MTX." In an effort to actually discover if there are particular MTX items or types that could cause an issue: What MTX were you using that appeared to cause problems with your gameplay? Also - What was your main skill or the one that appears to put the most stress on the XBox, if any, when it's used? Последняя редакция: Morkonan#5844. Время: 1 янв. 2019 г., 16:02:47
