Hypothermia on End Game Bosses

Should I swap this gem out for Shaper, Elder and Guardians? Cannot be chilled or frozen correct(?)

They all went down with Hypothermia socketed, but would swapping it for another gem be better suited?

Thanks for any help or suggestions! This is on an Ice Spear totems build if that makes a difference.

You could use something like CWDT + Arctic Breath to spread chilled ground.

My bad, I'm trying to find out if Hypothermia has any effect on these bosses since they cannot be chilled or frozen. If they don't, it would be worth swapping before the boss.

Soul Mantle Spell Totem --> Ice Spear --> Multiple Totems --> GMP --> Hypothermia --> Controlled Destruction --> Cold Pen

I'm pretty sure they can be chilled, it's just hard to do with hits because of how much health they have. But chilled ground should still work.

Pretty sure they are not immune to chill, just freeze. Maybe you need more dmg to chill?

Also found this as of 3.0 Patch, "Many unique monsters which were previously immune to Ailments have had their immunities removed, with the exception of Freeze. Notably, this includes several Beyond Demons, the Atziri Trio, Atziri herself, The Shaper and his Guardians, among others."

Sounds like you are correct sir or madam.

You either need chilled ground or an elementalist. Don't expect them to be chilled by anything else, ever. Even GC mines doesn't do that much pure cold damage in a single hit (the thing that makes it an amazing bosskiller is many simultaneously hits)

So, changing out Hypothermia for another support gem would be a good idea at boss time, correct? CC. Crit Dam. Efficacy.

If you want reliability, yeah. Elemental Focus is probably your best bet.
