Can i shock using this gem?

Nothing in PoE is immune to Lightning, and if they have high lightning resist, you can bypass that with lightning penetration (you can get this from passive tree, gem, items etc).
Most crit builds use controlled destruction, since 100% crit chance isnt that much, you can easily get enough crit chance to make up for it. |

There is no immunity.

Yeah there are no immunities in POE. It's not like Diablo 2 where you get those pesky "Immune to Fire" + "Immune to Cold" mobs when you're playing a meteorb sorceress.
