Lvl 66 now, respecced from my ice spear totem witch, this is my skill tree:

I don't have a way of attaining low life or maintaining RF and I do absolutely shit damage (66dps). I feel it should be a lot higher, even without active PA and RF.

Get a moonsorrow wand, they are cheap.
You need a way better shield with lots of spell damage as well.
Some things to note about this build:

+lightning damage does not work, but %lightning does, hence the wand.
%increased elemental damage with weapons does not work either.

Your damage will mainly come from spell damage, crit, cast speed and some lightning damage on top of it.
Run haste (the aura makes your totems cast faster as well) and throw vitality on blood magic to get lowlife, then get pain attunement.
Going lowlife will boost your damage significantly.

Remove lightning penetration, only increases mana cost per totem and doesn't help much, unless you're constantly fighting bosses that you can't curse. Get faster casting. Moonsorrow boosts damage by a huge margin (lots of +% spell dmg and +10% cast speed is okay), as well as Soul Mantle. Try to find a 4S Soul Mantle and link it, a 4L of it is as good as a 5L chest.

That should boost your damage EASILY to 300 or more. Both are huge boosts. Even if you have to sell something from your stash or other character to get the currency, it's worth it. At that dps you can farm docks efficiently, finally go low life and improve gear from drops.

Moonsorrow is 2-3 chaos, Soul Mantle.. well, take a 20% one and find one for 1 or 2 gcp. Add the links, they get much more expensive when they are linked already.

Everything else is RNG, I dropped my own rings, dropped chayula but don't use it and dropped rathpith but it's not much better than my also self dropped shield (aside from adding 600 ES, which is nice).

Edit: Oh and spark gets huge damage boosts by levelling up. Yours is low level, give it time and your damage will increase that way as well.

I'm stealing this quote for something wanted to point out some time ago but i always forgotten.

I switched from faster casting to lightning penetration and despite giving less tooltip dps, i noticed a good increase in clearing speed.

And it's huge for farming piety of course ;)

Anyone else did the same thing?

I am running on anarchy this build with pretty good results so far.

I wish I could just get a Shav, I feel like it would solve most of my problems.
RF is manageable, but I still get a drain my the ES. It's at the point there where if I got a better helmet it would prob stop.

I am running maps (not solo) with people, and I have only every been dropped instantly once by a poison arrow archer.

my fire res is 77 and my dps with spark is 760 :)

how does this build sustain rf without plank shield? having trouble understand what regen you have besides vitality and the 1% in templar
