Installation process..

What are you talking about regarding the URL I entered being incorrect? You're confusing me.. that is simply the error message that shows up when the PoE installer download stops.

This is the error message every single time except that crashupload.exe is sometimes replaced packcheck.exe;

Error: Failed writing received data to disk/application while downloading http://patch118.patchofexile.com8095/patch/0.10.8.5/crashupload.exe

PackCheck has fixed this error EVERY TIME except for now - at 375.6KB left. I've already said that those links do not help, though I appreciate your efforts Drakier.

This is disappointing..

I'm referring to the error you posted.

If you look at the link you posted, it's missing quite a few critical things.

1) it points to patchofexile.com and not pathofexile.com.
2) It's also not separating the port with a :. That SHOULD be http://patch118.pathofexile.com:8095/...
3) files on the linux hosting are cAsE SenSiTivE. That means that if it were indeed trying to download crashupload.exe, it would never find it, because the exe should be CrashUpload.exe.

So that's what I mean by the URL being wrong. Either you mis-typed it when you were attempting to paste it here, or if that is indeed the real error, there are other issues going on.

I need you to verify how you got that URL you posted and how you posted it here. Did you copy/paste it from the error, or did you manually re-type it?

The reason it's important is if you copy/pasted it from somewhere, then that makes me think that you've got something far more sinister going on. I'd like to help you get Path of Exile installed and working, but I need exact details and steps.

After you confirmed with me the URL stuff above, I'd also like you to confirm where you downloaded Path of Exile from and went about the installation process. I want to make sure you're using a legitimate source and aren't installing from a tainted source like a Torrent or something (it's pretty common, so that's why I'm asking).

Edit: Instead of just saying "those links don't work" can you provide details about what about the process isn't working? Do they not attempt to download? Do you get a 404 error if you try hitting them in a browser? What about the link doesn't work? Does it not allow you to save the file over top the current CrashUpload.exe?

For troubleshooting purposes it is important to be very detailed and very specific so we can help figure out what's going on and get it resolved. Whether that be an issue on your machine, or a larger issue with the patching servers, etc. It's important to know details to know the proper path to help you.

1) It wouldn't allow me to copy & paste off the error window so I had to type it out - I'm sure I mis-typed path of exile as patch of exile.. lol That is my mistake.

2) The colon missing was NOT in the error message.

I logged in yesterday(Friday 12 am) here (pathofexile.com) and selected the "Download Now!" button and downloaded the game client installer (pathofexileinstaller.msi).

Also, what I meant by "those links don't work" was that the .exe files did nothing, much like the originals that came with the installer. The physical links worked, but the .exe did not help.

I've uninstalled everything Path of Exile related right now with Revo Uninstaller and plan on giving this game another go tomorrow.

Happaned yet again at 2.75GB downloaded;

Connection Error - Error: Failed writing received data to disk/application while downloading http://patch118.pathofexile.com:8095/patch/0.10.8.5/CrashUpload.exe

Anyone....help?

Just got a new one;

Connection Error - Error: Failed writing received data to disk/application while downloading http://patch305.pathofexile.com:8095/patch/0.10.8.5/PackCheck.exe

I suppose I did miss that colon after all.

Make sure you're running the patcher/launcher as Admin. Right-click the Shortcut and click the "Run as Administrator" Option.

Also, you can do as I suggested yesterday which is to take those file paths, open up a new tab in your browser, paste the URLs into the Address bar, then click Go. It should then prompt you to save them to your hard drive somewhere. Once they're saved, copy them into the Path of Exile folder over top of the ones that should already be there. It should allow you to copy them. If not, you need to make sure you're doing it as Admin as well..

Once you replace those 2 files with the ones from the download, it should launch properly.
