Ignite/Burning Damage Build
So it has finally come to my attention that burning damage cannot be reflected by mobs. Reflect has been the biggest problem for me with the other builds I have tried out, so I'm going to give this one a go.
Endgame, I'll be using the Searing Touch staff with firetraps and dual flame totems. However, I don't know if I should try to stack +fire damage nodes or +crit chance/multiplier nodes. Furthermore, would this type of build benefit more from stacking ES or Life? Witch - ES+Chaos Innoculation - stacks crit chance/multiplier Templar - Life+Resolute Technique - stacks fire/ele damage Thanks for your input. Последняя редакция: Taj_2311#0769. Fire trap and flame totem both have pretty low base crit chances, not worth it imho. Especially with fire trap's limited casts per mob that you have. I would say still go ES even if not going crit chance/multiplier.

" Firetrap may have a low base crit chance, but I play a fire trap/fire ball build right now and it's extremely powerful. If you use searing touch, you can socket 2 fire trap gems in there for more traps to spam. I would spec into all the *burning damage* nodes that are close to you, and leave crit and all other damage for later. |

Ofcourse it's powerful but what I'm saying is that with it's limited casts even if running 2 fire traps and low base crit, it just isn't worth stacking crit if you are going to rely on it as your main damage source.

On my crit fire witch I use fireball with LMP as my main damage source and then use fire traps as a secondary/backup attack. I especially like to use firetraps when there is a room full of creatures guarding one door. Going through the door to try to hit them with all of my fireballs is risky but lobbing my traps in there works great.

I thought also that burning was the way to avoid reflect drama but it's wrong at the end.
If you want to burn bosses, you will need high fire hits, meaning that on a pack, you may still die on reflect. Going ES / Ghost Reaver / Vaal Pact may partially solve this though. IGN TylordRampage

Traps don't give reflect damage anyway.

slightly off topic but both totems and traps wont hurt you wiht reflect anyway, so you can go totem/trap with any skills and not worry about reflect :p

" It's kinda funny, I've been building burners in closed beta all the time and even then they were powerful. Then, most players heavily scoffed burn and now it's considered even better then shock and freeze. For burn builds I'd recommend using elemental equilibrium. Burn damage doesn't reset it so you just need your totem to ping the enemies once with something to take advantage of increased burn damage for the next 5 seconds (works even on curse-immunes). Your assist totem doesn't even have to fire fast, it just needs to cover as much area as possible. Good candidates are ice nova, spork, and shockwave with added lightning or cold. For main damage you need fire trap (which, as noticed already, doesn't reflect at all) and fireball which has great burst damage for single targets. It's not recommended putting LMP on fireball as equilibrium will have no effect because of simultaneous hits. Since you probably want to put both gems on searing touch a good setup would be Fireball + Fire Trap + Chance to ignite + inc burning damage. If you get 5 links put another trap on it, increased area (fire patch from trap can get pretty large that way), or elemental proliferation. Forget about fire totem, incinerate, or firestorm, too low damage to cause good burn. One more thing, burning ground from fire trap and ignite from fire damage are separate effect and can stack, that's why chance to ignite is useful even on fire trap. No need to go for crits, chance to ignite gem is a reliable burn source and you will do more than enough damage already. Well, It's a really powerful and fun build, although not too suited for party play. You should group your enemies as much as possible and playing in a party can leave you chasing for action too much. Also, you might hinder other element users with EE, or help them, depending on support spell choice. I've been having a lot of fun with my EA setup:
Basically, I stack one mob up with those and everything burns to death. I've found myself very resilient to reflect, but bosses often give me trouble. Luna's Blackguards - a guild of bronies - is now recruiting! If you're a fan of our favourite chromatic marshmallow equines, hit me up with an add or whisper, and I'll invite you!
