Found a Fishing Rod. NO IDEA WHAT IT IS (no more rod in my stash)

Frankly, I don't get why people are mad/suspicious, it's a mechanic that has alwaysd been fun in torchlight and gives you something to do when you just want to hang out in global chat ; I'm glad this isnt anymore NDA relevant and that I can talk about it, but so far, all of you are wrong considering the conditions to drop it/what it does/etc.

I found my first rod about one month into Open Beta after following instructions I found on the forum.

Just the one. They are extremely rare and I'm still trying to work out exactly what I did to get Jabberjaws and his mythical mob to spawn.

Are you still suggesting after all this that I'm trolling? I gave you screenshots showing the crafting from initial alt/aug to final near perfect 6 mods. I get the impression you're still not going to believe me even if I post a screenshot of me and the NPC from Sarn out on a fishing trip.

It's pretty straightforward. Jabberjaws is a unique mob that roams up and down a coast at random in your game. If you kill him, he drops the Tremendous Snaggletooth quest item that you have to bring to an NPC in the Forest Encampment (he doesn't show up until you find this item). It gives a message like "Find a use for the Tremendous Snaggletooth." The NPC is named Gordon the Fishmonger and he's in the corner of the Encampment. He says some dialogue about how he's buying fish or whatever and gives you the two handed item Worn Fishing Rod which is permanantly slotted with the "Fishing" gem (which is gray, it's pretty cool which allows you to Fish near water.
