At first I was excited that I could sell it for 40 chaos.
Than I realized that something is very wrong with poe when finding one of the rarest items in game just makes you think "this is worth 40 currency". Chaos orbs are basically just gold. Only like the top .1% of the economy will ever see an eternal orb as more than just a 40 pack of chaos. |

If I found an Eternal I wouldn't be on the forums. I'd be over at the Devs' house, bathing their feet, feeding them grapes, brushing their hair, suckling on their toes, whatever.

" To be fair, the marketing for PoE makes a big deal of the whole "barter economy" and lack of "gold" compared to D3. However, that's not how it turns out. It shouldn't be a surprise if you think about it; when exchange rates stabilize, the game becomes isomorphic to one where there is a single gold resource and there are various gold-costs to crafting operations. Call it what you will; it's still gold in function. That said there's going to be a point for each person when they realize that this is the case, and it appears the OP just hit that point. If I find one, I'll use it to craft, even if its just for the lulz. It's really pathetic that after probably 800 - 900 hours of gameplay since CB, I still haven't used an exalted (or eternal) orb.

Gotta buff the orb drops to make crafting more fun and viable. Instead of 1 Chaos something will cost 10 and thats ok because i dont care about paying 1 or 10 because i can craft with them too.
Right now if i found an eternal i wouldnt be able to craft with it. It would sit idly in my stash forever. |

It dropped purely out of spite. Since nothing in the game meets your satisfaction, an Eternal is the one item you have absolutely no use for.
