Stuck at checking resources
I found a solution for me, and I bet it will work for others too. I'm convinced this is a problem the game has with permissions. I tried running it overnight, I restarted it at least 10 times, sometimes removing the ggpk file, sometimes leaving it, tried compatibility mode, etc. Nothing worked.
Since I had to use the trick of running the MSI from an admin's DOS prompt to get it to install in the "Program Files (x86)" folder, I think it was having some trouble with permissions even when the client was run as administrator. So I moved the game folder to a non-system path (C:\Games\Path of Exile) and ran it again. It's working great now, first try. After checking resources for a few seconds it starte allocating space and then downloading files. |

I've tried every trick listen in this thread, I am on my 3rd complete reinstall, with verified .dll and registry entire wipes. And it's still hanging on checking resources. Has anyone found a surefire fix, or a possible fix that is not listed here? Also I've ran the Packetcheck.exe which also seems to hang on the first file.

Seems to be an issue with AV programs. I disabled my Kaspersky and checking resources was completed in a few seconds.

I had this issue too. Disabling my antivirus and restarting the patcher worked. Said Checking Resources.. for literally no longer than 3 seconds and started allocating space.

" I recommend running the game as administrator (if you haven't already) and I also recommend adding Path of Exile to your firewalls whitelist rather than disabling it entirely. |
