Unofficial Path of Exile Android App

Me (Designer) and my mate (Programmer) started thinking about making an unofficial PoE App.

We would like to confront our ideas with the community. Please list all the features that you would like to see in the app, I will categorize them as Must Have, Should Have and Nice To have depending on how much work will they require. Currently I have listed everything we came up with. BRING MOARZ IDEAZZZ ;)

1. Passive Skill Tree with Offline Mode with with certain features

Offline features:
*Listing summarized stats
*Listing unique passive skill key nodes such Blood Magic - You use health instead of mana.
*Saving the build
*Generating a token which you can export/import to see a build

Online:
Generating a shortened (goo.gl) link to the build.

2. Skill gems wiki with ability to make skill builds

Offline features:
Saving the build
Generating a token which you can export/import to see a build

Online:
Generating a shortened (goo.gl) link to the build.

3. Full build - linking passive skill build and skill build together

4. Logging in and choosing character after which these option become available:

*Viewing his inventory
*​Listing summarized stats from items
*Viewing his passive skill tree
*Viewing stash

5. Viewing ladder for both Hardcore and Default League

6. Vendor Recipes - available offline

7. Damage Reduction Calculation for: - available offline for saved builds

*Passive skills
*Items
*Items and Passive Skills combined

I don't know if its possible, but could you implement something like the chrome extension "PoE Helper"?

I'd love to have a list of items I need to have a full recipe vor the vendor.

I didn't use PoE helper yet, so thanks for the heads up! I will look into it and talk to my mate, we'll see which features can be implemented.

I came up with this idea while sitting on the throne unable to find any app with offline skill tree :D

Thinks that are easy to implement and i think useful are

1.
Vendor Recipes. In Phase 2 maybe with a "search" function. So you that you have

"i need a armouers scrap" and the app choose you the recipes.

2.
Damage Reduction Calculation:

As Input you get 2 of Damage, Armor and Reduction and the App shows the missing one.

You could implement this function for every calculated function in PoE :P


Im using an Anroid Phone and think an App with basic features first is the much better alternative. Cause development time for complex apps can be very long and you will have much issues to solve if you have a complex system so the app can get forgotten.

An android skill tree app would be great. One that lists the benefits of the nodes you chose, possibly calculating the effects of your equipment too.

If you make a skill tree i think it would be very nice if you can implement the online flash skill tree in the app.

Don't know exactly how in the moment typing the GetParameter manually isnt very effective. And copy it is only possible with using a third partition tool like email.

But you only wanted ideas not solutions :P

Yeah, ideas are fine, if we will have some problems with solutions I will post them so we can think about workarounds or alternatives :)

Personally, I'm with the earlier reply in suggesting that you get a basicilly functioning app out ASAP.

The thing is, I can read the forums (including trade forums and check its items), see item data, check the PoE wiki, etc., with both of my mobile devices (iPhone5 and Asus tf700). What I CAN'T do (and one of the main things I'd love to do when away from primary PC) is create builds or see others' builds since the site's skill tree can't pan on mobile devices.

Get that going, and I'd be a devoted fan/supporter. The rest of the ideas sound great, but would merely be icing on the cake.

On a side note, adding a character/stash browser would be fantastic in the short term also. Trying to navigate the site's built-in functions is rather futile at times due to the wonky nature of mouse-over functions on touch devices, and the overlay's automatic resizing and repositioning can be maddening at times as well. Given that the Chrome plugin can retrieve site info once logged in, this should be possible though would require trusting account info to the app's devs.

All that said, I'm posting this from my phone. Can do that. Can't use the skilltree.

Just an fyi, The skill tree builder on the website is java not flash, It runs on any android device. So you wont even need to program it in, Its all their for you in the open.
