Ice crit... with trap? (build idea, advice please)

A question for all you veterans out there:
Has anyone tried sticking a trap support on an ice spell with crit to see how well that works?

I wanted to make something ice and crit, but a bit different from the norm.
I was thinking that maybe ice nova on a trap might work, since it gets around one of its big disadvantages, its short range.

Now I'm aware that ice nova has low damage end game, but would the bonus damage from being on a trap support get around that sufficiently? Would multiple traps still be worth it here or lower the damage too much?

I did a quick search and couldn't find any ice crit trap builds, but the concept is interesting to me.

(note: I like to play interesting builds that are viable. I'm aware it probably wont be optimal, but that doesn't bother me.)

Trap - cold snap - concentrated effect - elemental proliferation works fine.
There have been some trap builds that used that along with fire traps and arc/lightning/shock nove trap.
Ice nove ain't that efficient. it lacks the high freezing ability of cold snap.
