Well, it's a great place but the moderator there has no reasoning behind why IGN's are considered personal information. They are not, I can coherently speak alot better typing than speaking. I'm still waiting to hear how IGN's are personal information. Infact, the moderator said in his post here:

This ISN'T Reddit.

Reddit rule was probably added to add some form of moderation, as the reddit users are generally very destructive and immature (because they can be, they arent like the actual POE forums where you have to abide by rules and get punished if you dont do so).

Personal information being posted can be a big deal, if someone was being an ass to you in a trade and you take a screenshot of one portion of the conversation, whos to say that you werent the one being the asshole originally, know what i mean ? That person could of easily started it and only captured the other guy doing wrong to make himself look good.

Stupid garbage like that goes on all the time and ironically gets upvoted, it just becomes a witch hunt because one person gets sour over something soo small. Thats something thats a huge problem on the reddit, the naming and shaming (which normally im all for until it gets out of have like players whispering said player, etc. The fact that it was caught and public acknowledged is enough, leave it at that).

What i mean im all for "naming and shaming", im for systems like steamrep/steam the way they take care of such issues.

If that is the case, that is a good argument and I agree with you, and it should of been said in the Rule Post.

What I'm failing to grasp and find it pretty scary is how the moderator is defining IGN's as personal information, which is untrue. And better yet, how he is using these measly witch hunts on a case by case basis (probably keeping him busy) to justify and change the definition of it. It shouldn't be welcomed in the POE community on any platform, Reddit, forums, etc.

I see what you mean, to be honest the rule should be changed to make more sense as to why the approach is being taken. Its considered public information as your forum/account name are all public information from the Path of Exile website.

Moderator is definitely in the wrong as to a clear reasoning, the "private information argument" would never hold up.

Now that i think about it though, you can also set your profile private soo those character names cannot be seen, soo it could be considered private information to some degree. Its a grey area.

Yeah, that's true. However, in this case, he's basing his grounds under "Personal Information" relevant to reddit's rules. And that falls under you know, location, last name, first name, relationship status maybe, etc. Which IGN's from POE do not fall under that. So he has no grounds for that rule. Especially when this what he said:

Ah i see, yeah his argument and reasoning is definitely out of bounds then, i dont go on the reddit often enough to pay attention to rules, i using just wonder around for a bit and leave.
