Is there some Lovecraftian references in PoE?

Hello everyone. Today I was reading a compilation of H.P. Lovecraft Cthulhu's books and it's quite interesting that the stories reminds me of the Beyonders! Interdimensional monsters that appear from nowhere, a bizarre cult in Wraeclast and the most powerful monster is something unbeliavable to describe - characteristics that Abaxoth, one of the most overpowered creatures in this great game, have and many more to describe!

And now, we have the Breach - another Interdimensional "thing" that is present everywhere on the corrupt place inhabited by the Exiles.

Question is: Is there some Lovecraftian references in Path of Exile or is pure speculation? I'll be glad to see some interesting answers, and questions about the subject are very welcome my fellow gamers! +)

Oh yes definitely. Beyond demon names are Lovecraftian, even the trio in Atziri.

Hey, thanks for your reply mate! I'd make another research and discovered another inspiration: Bast, one of Lovecraft's Elder Gods = Haast, the second most powerful Beyonder! Man, the internet is marvelous! +)

Innsbury edge even causes you to go insane... I somehow wanna build around it now xD

What story is "Innsbury" from? I'm not a huge Lovecraft fan; haven't read him in years really.

Sounds like it might be an allusion to "The Shadow Over Innsmouth." Merveil's story has similar vibes as that one as well.

And yeah great old one's is obvious which I forgot to mention as is the pic on it (Shaper) which looks like how they are described.
