How bad is my Backlight Bleeding Asus PG348Q?

Hello,

just like to ask what the experience of other IPS Users with with Backlight Bleeding is and what do you guys think about the amount my monitors suffers:

Image 2: Fog of War in Pillars of Eternity

Imgae 3 & 4 Darksouls III

I tried to be as accurate at possible to capture the BLB like my eye is seeing it. The brightness is set to 30% and contrast to 35%. The BLB visible in the fotos is a bit worse in real but i think the fotos make it possible to get an idea.

I agree that path is a rather bright game where BLB is not too much of an issue but its not the only game i play. I look forward especially to Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire and there is Fog of War (=Black Screen) in every map entered for the first time so i think this will be extremely annoying.

Plus i got coil whine on my monitor when im at 100 Hz with G-sync in my web browser. The coil whine stops in games but its pretty annoying in youtube or while browsing. Now im thinking about sending it back to amazon.

What do you guys think?

You hear monitor or GPU coils? I would exchange it (card or monitor) for sure. Its really annoying and I know no one who get used to it. Imagine you watch some great movie and now you hear wwwwwiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeee.

The way your panel leak light is behind my tolerance level. In our country monitors like that are exchanged without any problems. If you work with photos or graphics you will hate it. If you bought it for games, its annoying, and like coils, you will notice it and will bother you.

At first I tough you have some low quality TNT panel but if that is IPS than its bad imo, but I think IPS has some issues with that overall.

I have 144hz TNT and I have no such a things like you have. I have TNT because I like to play compete games and fast response is key, I am using sometimes ULMB or I am using Lightboost for 3D Vision. IPS can not reach that level of quality I seek due technology, nevertheless IPS has great colors, nice black etc. where TNT in compare is really bad.

If its overall good monitor, I would give a chance to exchange. Otherwise return it and buy another one.

ps/edit: after reading few reviews this light leak is common for this type of monitors.. I had to switch monitor till I bought one I have now.. Its pain but worth to do.. In the end its your call if to keep it or leave, if its in your tolerance level or not.. The same is for coils, in reviews people were talking about it as well..

I will send it back and try a different brand this time thanks for commenting. TN panels are not an option for me.

I would RMA the display, and by that I mean return it to the place of purchase and have them RMA it for ya (they'll likely test it first themselves).
Computer specifications:
Windows 10 Pro x64 | AMD Ryzen 5800X3D | ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero (WiFi) Motherboard | 32GB 3600MHz RAM | MSI Geforce 1070Ti Gamer | Corsair AX 760watt PSU | Samsung 860 Pro 512GB SSD & Crucial MX 500 4TB SSD's

Well, according to Asus those "features" are "normal".

Check the documentation that came with the display. Some of them include a 7 day free exchange policy for severe screen defects, defects which include things like incorrect colour, brightness, warping backlight flicker etc.

The store may also be willing to allow you to return it for a restocking fee (do you still got all the packaging?). I returned a ASUS PG258Q and paid a $50 restocking fee, while getting a $50 gift card voucher from ASUS with my purchase... (so I'm not out of pocket)
