Shock Nova Elementalist is a project that i wanted to do for a long time and it's finally done and it's affective. Fully end-game viable, Shaper and Elder dead, so it's not so "hipster" anymore.
Massive AOE, decent mobility and competitive boss damage!
Fast to level up and can be done in temporary league as well, no mirror gear required! The total investment here was around 10 exalts (if we assume you are gonna 6L a chest yourself, which i usually accomplish in temp league).

Why Shock Nova is so good?
a) It has high raw damage, almost as high as Lightning Tendrils for example. But Lightning Tendrils sucks your mana much faster.
b) It has absolutely MASSIVE AOE, incomparable to any other lightning skill, except maybe Vaal Arc. Unlike Tendrils it hits everything around you, not just ahead of you.
c) It has highest shock effectiveness in the game.

How to maximize your damage! IMPORTANT!
The skill itself has 2 areas: the nova and the ring. The ring does about 1/5 of what nova does. BUT! you can combine this damage if you hit enemies BY THE RING, because nova will still hit through the area damage.

You need to hit bosses with the ring (where red dot is). Purple dot is nova. White dot is NO DAMAGE.

Curious, would a CwC setup with Tendrils be a major drop in damage?

Hi there and thanx for feedback!
CwC Tendrils is very common setup, it's just different and IMHO is not necessary. It won't be that much of a DPS increase (if not a loss even) as you will be casting weak tendrils and weak shock nova. Nova has enough damage on it's own to do all content, Tendrils are not necessary at all. I did a lot of Shaper testing for both tendrils and shock nova alone and results were basically identical. But for map clearing Shock Nova absolutely beats anything.
