Premium essence tab - no auto upgrade for plebs?

Why does die Ps4 version of the essence tab not have the option to upgrade to the higher tiers, like it does on PC or am I missing something?

It at least used to have that option?
Just press Triangle on a stack of Essences in the tab? I haven't logged in recently, so if that option isn't working, then they changed something... |
