Returning player, build help please

I'm not looking to run a ton of juiced maps, or kill ubers. I have reached yellow maps now. I'm playing the general idea of a build I loved 2.5 years ago, my general mapping strategy is hold cyclone, CWDT a bunch of stuff including desecrate, and follow the balls to the monsters. If I outrun my corpses, i cast a single desecrate, load up my recoup and go again. but there are so many new mechanics, i don't really know what i can do to improve. I would like advice one what items or gems links I could improve, but I want to keep the general idea- CWC VD. but i'm open to self casting VD, but definitely not anything that is COC or anything where i'm casting desecrate. I'd rather incremental changes (under 2 divines), because larger ones will be a long way off.
