Strange unreachable location

In "The Caverns" I found a room with a recipe, which has no visible way to get into. I walked around the entire map several times in search of a lever, a grate, a hidden passage. Is this some kind of machination by the game masters "for their own use" or am I just missing something? Next and prev locations is "Ancient Pyramid" and "Northern Forest".
