Which spirit? When Chris decided to nuke Exalts and swapped to Divines? That spirit when he basically stated that he doesn't care about the players?
Nothing changed, either with or without Chris. Leagues always have been hits and miss.

Chris is one of the persons behind PoE 1's Ruthless mode. He is probably busy playing PoE 2 as it is very likely more in line what he wanted PoE to be in the first place. /thread

When you're working for someone else it's not as fun as working for yourself. When you're working mainly for yourself you feel that your options are unlimited. Chris has a bazillion dollars and probably doesn't want to deal with answering to Tencent all the time and he wants to do something else with his life.
No one believes he was removed from paperwork by accident back whenever that was. He likely stayed on because him being attached to the company gives GGG a big boost.
