Crossbow Shot Sockets?

Anyone know what to put in these sockets? Is this a design mistake or do they serve a purpose? Thanks in advance.

Honestly it carry me early on this skill because if you don't like grenade and want to go rapid shot, very early bossing is trash so this skill carry you.
I used scattershot + martial tempo. |

So those will go into your rapid shot slots... I'm talking about the slots found in crossbow shot...
