Dying after killing boss

I Was fighting a boss and killed it. After killing it, I died to AoE spam. I got the quest item, but all other loot the boss dropped just vanished after I respawned at checkpoint (literally right next to the boss). I am unsure if this is intended or not?

Bumping, if the boss dies and drops loot regardless if we die after the fact we should still be able to get the loot. Not sure if this is intended or a bug, as they have made the volatiles disappear after killing the rare with that mod, killing the boss should end AoE/volatile effects too?
