I just realise why loot is extremely disappointing in PoE2

Hello,

I just noticed yesterday that I wasn't really expecting anything from the loot drop simply because by the end of Act II I already have seen everything that is to be expected.

4 classes of objects: white>blue>gold and unique.
All the modifiers possible (except for some unique properties).
Orbs to "craft" better modifiers.

And that's all. I will never loot anything else, the only exciting thing will be the best orbs drops.

I am already using the modifiers I will be using in end-game, just with smaller numbers and tiers. I can basically craft anything I could eventually loot. There is no discovery nor excitement in identifying items, just disappointment if they aren't perfect.

The only game will be facing more of the same, looting more of the same trying to get slightly bigger number of the same modifiers.

Perhaps it's a fail of all ARpg or perhaps there is another way to generate items, more interesting and varied, more granular in evolution with less access to rarer modifiers. Dont' know, but it feel a bit underwhelming...

When they implement them there are finisher effects that shoot little animations when you kill rares, would that help?
Part of me agrees because, on my witch while leveling, I was able to buy a basically perfect staff but its only a level 22 lol which seems weird, cause it has VERY high values for spell + fire damage + spell skills so, it just doesn't make sense why I can get these high values at such low level, now I'm having this weird feeling of, will i ever replace this low level staff?

Perfect item means all highest tier mods and numbers as possible.
I doubt you can find a +7lvl all spell on a staff lvl22 but why not.. quid from the others mods?

Its just the mods you need that s all.. It s not perfect in any sense at lvl 22
Maybe you should play PoE 1 - for now.

I'm anxious to see a LOT more complexity in itemization, stats, underlying game mechanics and skill compatibility in PoE 2.

But until then it's a loong way to go. Maybe Christmas 2026.

Wich is exactly my point. He already have looted the "perfect" item at level 22. Now all he had to expect is to loot the same item with bigger number.

But for all the thrill and bells and whistles he already have seen what is the best the game have to offer in a matter of modifiers and mechanics by level 22.

An ilvl 22 staff can roll up to 64% inc spell damage (98% if it also has perfect hybrid roll), an ilvl 80+ one can roll up to 169% (238% if it also has perfect hybrid roll). similar for all the other mods. i think you haven't found the "perfect staff" quite yet xD

getting a combination of all the mods you want at high tier is extremely rare and to many players finding or crafting such an item is very exciting. "numbers go up" can still significantly change the way your build feels. getting a 30% dps upgrade makes a huge difference, especially if you're struggling.

another area is stats that you only need a fixed amount of, like spirit or resistances. for example, if you need 60 spirit from gear to use all your buffs, getting that on one item (together with other good mods) makes the rest of your gear much more flexible. similar with resistances: if you can cap them with high rolls on only 3 gear pieces then the rest of your gear can focus on other things. this lets you stack much more damage or defense or rarity or whatever it is you want to build towards.
