Mana Siphoner Rare Monster Mod Damaging Through Energy Shield

Hello, experiencing the title happening to me in a controlled environment. The damage rate to my life pool after my mana has been drained is inconsistent and still damages my energy shield as well. I tested both with and without Chaos Innoculation, CI resulting in death when mana reaches 0 regardless of remaining ES on my lifepool. Is the monster mod intended to deal damage past a players ES after draining mana while Mind over Matter is allocated or is this an actual bug?

Don't have any such mod on my character nor a mana flask that saps HP during flask effect.
