Anvil's Weight + Gas Grenade Poison Cloud does not Break Armour

Gas Grenede's Poison Cloud has this description:
"Does not Hit, but Poisons enemies as though Hitting them"

Hitting == Any damage that isn't damage over time

This should synergize with Anvil's Weight that Breaks Armour equal to 10% of Hit Damage dealt.

Poison cloud is technically hitting per tick of poison.

Armour Break does trigger with poison cloud when it first triggers but only 1 tick of it.

As you quoted, Gas Grenade's impact doesn't hit (it poisons as if it were hitting). So since Anvil's Weight specifies hit damage, I don't see why one should expect them to work together.

You can read here the decription of the Poison Cloud under the Gas Grenade Skill. It states the following:

Poison Cloud
Attack Damage: (120–374)%
Does not Hit, but Poisons enemies as though Hitting them
Gains 20% more Area of Effect per second, up to a maximum of 160%

From what i understand, this should override the damage from DOT to Hit since you can even hover the word Hitting in game and it will say that Hitting == Any damage that isn't damage over time.



NOTE: Not all poison skills has the "Does not Hit, but Poisons enemies as though Hitting them" description because it should be used as a differentiator to other poison skills.

It wouldn't make sense to add that line and just make it act like other poison skills without it.
Breaks Armour equal to 10% of Hit Damage dealt. Hit damage and damage calculated as if hitting are two seperate things. 'Hit damage' is calculated and applied upon the moment of impact, where as 'as though hitting' applies a dot affect that doesn't actually hit, but calculated it's damage as if it had. There is no actual hit occouring, so hit damage isn't factored into the calculation itself.
I understand what you mean here but if that's true the Gas Grenade initial poison cloud pop shouldn't even trigger the Break Armour, right? But whenever i test it with the ascendency the first poison tick from the cloud does trigger armour break equal to 10% of the tick which made me think it should work and is just bugged. That's my thought process when i submitted this report.
